BlackSS05 07-06-2006, 06:28 PM ok so i am attempting or was attempting to change my pulley to the new 2.8 for stage 2. So i followed my stage 2 instructions and can not get the 15mm wrech to not slip off. Is there any help for me i now have to go out and leave my car with the pulley half on in my driveway cuz i cant drive it. Hopefully i can get some help for when i come back. Maybe you guys used a longer wrench or a shorter depth any help is greatly appreciated. TTYL

Make the sure the 15mm Open Wrench is really tight on the top notch of the tensioneer. Press down and towards the firewall. Go slow and easy and you will see it move down. You do need some muscles for this, easy for me I got 18" arms:guns:.
patathSS 07-06-2006, 06:35 PM Yeah the wrench has to fit really tight. Otherwise it will slip off. I had to use a brand new 15mm because my old one was too loose.

Worse case senario incase you still can't get it, try to put a pry bar in the black slotted hole and press the pulley downward. Place a towel or something over the belt/idler pulley.... and press downward to release some tension.
Or you can get the pulleyboys tensioner removal tool which makes this sooooo much easier.
eastcoastz 07-06-2006, 09:25 PM You MUST push down and foward toward the firewall. Its tough getting used to.
since I remove my pulley so many times it started to slip too. So now I just clamp a long bolt with a long nut on it to the bracket right on top of the tensioner pulley. Slowly turning the bolt presses the tensioner down and holds it there. Use two small clamps, it's easier. hope that helps;)

It's too bad I dont live closer to you bro, I would a helped you out!
black06ss 07-06-2006, 10:47 PM place the 15 mm wrench on the bracket grab a small hammer or mallet and tap a few times until you fell or hear metal on metal meaning it is all the way back in the wrench this should give you enough grip. if all else fails paint the bracket gold and it will be ever so slightly thicker and it will look neato keen too. i did it. haha
max_boost 07-06-2006, 10:56 PM I had a similar problem. I ended up taking a wash cloth and rolling it up and putting it on the pulley and used a screw driver to pry against the rolled up wash cloth and that got it to compress. Then I ordered the Pulley Boys tensioner relief tool so I won't ever be in that situation again.

yea I know it's confusing, I'll post a pic later
Allshot 07-06-2006, 10:59 PM I had the same prolem i damn near stripped the little thing. What i did is i got some vice grips and put on there as tight as i could then just pushed really hard and it held. Just get some vice grips it should work. :twothumbs
codyss 07-07-2006, 10:59 AM I made a tool for this very job.
Go buy a 9/16 wrench and then lightly grind it until it fits very snugly over the tensioner.
Mine was just tight enough that I had to tap it on with a hammer. I also cut the closed side off and bent the handle so it was super easy to use.
SS_SC_Cobalt 07-07-2006, 11:08 AM get the pulleyboys tool and you wont have to worry about it for evar!

BlackSS05 07-09-2006, 08:24 PM sorry it has been so long but finally that night i took my 15mm wrench and wedged it over the pulley and pushed down. my dad removed the belt from the supercharger pulley put the new pulley on and i put the tension back onto it. Once you remove the tension it takes about 2 mins to change it. Thanks for all the help.
