My dealer gave me a surprise phone call yesterday. My car was not supposed to be built until 6/2 but somehow it showed up yesterday. Needless to say I love it I can't stop looking at it. Pics will follow soon.

I got the deal of a century on it to, here are the specs:
SS/SC Arrival blue, sunroof, xm Sticker was 23,045.
I preordered with free sunroof xm deal -1000 = 22,045
Dealer gave me 500 discount 21500,
Hot button -1000 = 20500.
Gm card -1000 =19500.

The kicker is I got a flyer in the mail from GMcard Monday that the were offering 1250 bonus savings above the redemption limits on cobalts, if you buy before June 30.

So 19,500 - 1250 = 18250 + 52 dealer fee. $18,300 driven of the lot.

For those dumb enough to pay sticker (let alone a premium) for a Cobalt --- this is exactly what I said would happen! Sure enough, GM is back to its standard practice of trashing the market on the SS just like I said they would. Truth is the only way Chevy can sell their cars is to rebate the hell out of them because they just don’t stack up against the imports.

Say goodbye to your resale boys… You’re already $4k in the hole!

I have to remember that the next time I am smoking a Civic or a Lancer or a Eclispe or a Mazda 3.

I will think to myself, self they are going to have some great resale value in their car.

Really???

Well, if money means nothing to you (as you implied by not giving a **** about loosing thousands of dollars INSTANTLY via rebates etc.) then you obviously have more money than brains.

In a couple of years when you’re Cobalt is trash and you’re ready for something new maybe you won’t be so Cavalier (haha) about being upside down --- which WILL BE the standard condition for ALL Cobalt owners (excluding those dumb enough to put a big down payment on a financial loser).

Furthermore, you make it sound like the SS Cobalt can trounce “everything import” on the road. I don’t think so dude. But if SPEED alone is your only criteria, you could have bought a used Z-28 w/LS1 that will SMOKE your “super-charged” 2.2L puppy like a stepchild!

If I was planning on buying something new in a few years I wouldn't have bought a used Cavalier not a brand new Cobalt SS....Another thing a Z28 is in a completely different class than a Cobalt SS...and another thing a Z28 w/ LS1 isn't an import just incase you didn't know

You're kidding???

I applaud you for supporting GM even when they produce inferior products at rebate prices. But just in case you haven't noticed --- there are LESS and LESS people like you and that means more and more losses for GM. And as long as GM keeps selling discounts you'll be driving a "discount car," regardless if you call it Cavalier, Cobalt or whatever...

Very few dealerships in Canada are offering little to no deals on this car at this point, so yes, I paid the sticker price but I ended up getting some free service coupons instead.

So I must be pretty stupid then

All of your posts on this board have dealt with bashing this car - some more than others. If you don't have anything productive to say why do you even bother coming here??

Not everyone gives a **** about the resale. Has it occured to you that people mabye buy the car because they like it and not for the resale value.

But don't listen to me because I'm just stupid

rcatss396, Your quite the comedian.

I own a 2002 Camaro SS and a Cobalt SS, and I have more fun driving my Cobalt. Comparing a LS1 to a Cobalt SS is a no duh comparison. A LS1 F-Body will kill 90% of the cars it races.

Also keep in mind these interesting facts:

98-02 LS1 with a everyday driver 13.4 - 13.9
93-97 LT1 13.9 - 14.8
94-98 Mustang GT 14.8 - 15.0
99-04 Mustang GT 14.5 - 14.0
90% Of imports 1990 to 2005 15.0 - 18.0

2005 Cobalt SS 14.0 - 14.7

Yea exactly, get off this damn site if u don't like the car, and let us enthusiasts who like the car enjoy it without having to read your bashing about it.

i don't see how ur car could "just" show up if it wasn't supposed to be built until 6/2... the dealer knows what they have coming in, they woulda known a month ago when it was built, shipped and invoiced... u sure its urs?

It's mine now, I have been driving it for two days. Also it never showed on chevrolet locater or Gmbuypower car locater. They have no other ss/sc sold to anyone else, small town very small dealer. It really did just show up completly unexpected. Philco 3's car showed up the same way.
Also if I would have know this thread was going to cause such a problem I would have never posted it. This arguing about what car is better and all this other crap, is why I stopped posting on J-body.org. I hope this sight does not turn into another teenage battleground of flame wars like old j-body did.

I wouldn't sweat it. It's only one person that's starting the **** so I wouldn't consider it a problem. Let's just stick to the subject & ignore the BS.

It's good that you got your car - bastard

My dad can kick your dad's ass.

Wow, with intelligence like that you should be driving a '74 pink Pinto with fur on the dashboard!

Frankly punk, I could give a crap if "whoever" wants to kick me off this site --- because even if they do I've got enough brain power to find a way right back on again (provided I have something I WANT TO SAY)! So tough **** little Chevy Cobalt boy…and obviously you're the one who secretly lusts after his mother’s ****! In fact, I bet she still spanks you --- and you probably love it (you sick lil’ bitch)!

Maverick, you obviously love to suck sock, and maybe something else lil’ gay Chevy boy. In fact I bet you wear a cute lil’ bow tie when you peddle yur lil’ Cobalt over to the queer bathhouse!

Naughty naughty --- stop masturbating over the RSX lit you’ve secretly stashed under your bed and just go get a REAL CAR (with four wheels that actually match and don’t fall off), and leave the training wheels behind!
