Hitting redline ...

Well this might not be a problem, or it might be, I'm not sure lol....

I was, kind of, racing an old Mustang GT and I was so caught up in the race and traffic around me that I pushed my car and it hit the redline, bogged down a bit and then I noticed and pushed clutch and let go of the gas. It was fine after that, not even any smell or anything. I was wondering if I killed anything or screwed up something with my clutch or engine? I do know that if you would continue pressing the gas on the red it would over heat and blow up lol. But as soon as I felt it bog, I let go of everything...

It's just you bouncing off the rev limiter.... it's a safety feature. Cuts fuel when you get the revs too high. Happens with these cars all the time...

Oh ok good, I was a little worried that I fked up the engine or transmission (clutch)... I guess the fuel does cut off, which is why for that split second it bogged down and slowed down even if my foot was on the ground. As for winning, we started the "race", lol, at about 50km/h and i was owning him by 1 car length until i redlines and there was a truck in front of me! lol So i clutched, he passed and I went behind him. Then we stopped at a light and he was in back of me, I reved to check my engine was alright, and then he reved lol!! I was like, oh this guy really wants a beating haha!! So after we turned left, I punched it in second and hit the gas and he hit it but his tires spun and he burned out haha, at that point I was like 5 cars in front... He thought he was all it until he saw me!!!! hahaha

BTW, thanks for the help

I had the same issue the other night except my car with only 900 miles on it completely shut down and i had to pull off the road. It took ten minutes to get my car running again and i had an engine light on immediatly after that. the next morning the light was gone and it was running normally but i brought it to chevy and they pulled the cam position sensor code out of the tech 2. Whats up with that? they cleared the code and told me if it happens again they'll really investigate things.

Edit: this was the first real time i got on the car heavy since i picked it up with 37 miles on it. hitting redline was just me not being use to the car, not like i'm a terrible driver or anything...
