Alright i've done my homework been on the phone with GM Tech Line and i found out the 2.0 supercharger will work. Ignition will handle itself, as for the fuel the injector must be upgraded to 320's and the pump must be upgraded slightly, but as for fuel management i have been in contact with Greddy and their E-Manage Blue, which is a pretty universal unit should work just fine. Although not yet tested on the Cobalt their hopes of it working as well as mine are high. The simple problem i am facing now is that i have the supercharger and that's all i have. I need the intake manifold which is becoming a complete pain in the ass to find so guys if you can give me a hand on this. Gm currently has no pricing, only numbers for almost all engine components of this car and the deadline for me finishing this thing is the end of next month. I'm just trying to do something that hasn't been done yet (putting the 2.0 charger on the 2.2), so any little thing anyone can suggest would help. Even the old 2.2 supercharger intake manifold for the Cavy and Fires will work. So everyone roll up there sleeves and dig deep into this and see what you can come up with for parts.

Best of luck to you, I dont believe those fuel managements will work though. If they did, I'm sure someone would've already done it.

 

Well here is what i'm doing, i'm taking the factory parameters and loading them into a computer, hooking it up to the E-manage while the car is on a dyno and tuning it step by step until i get what i want and what the car needs to operate at a maximum. From what i was told though, with upgrading the injectors and fuel pump flow would be sufficient for the supercharger but it would not reach peak HP without some tuning to the parameters of the PCM. Look at Toyota for example, which i've been working on for years now (professionally), when we put a charger on them no fuel mod no PCM mod, just a couple oil lines, coolant lines, and vacuum T's and that's it. Recently alot of Toyota's engineering has been coming from GM, like alot of the technology in the Scion line up and with the Corolla which you can purchase a supercharger for at a cost around $3400. Basically right now i just need the proper manifold and everything else will work out as it comes, thanks for the luck, i'm sure somewhere along the way i'll need it.

get the 2.2 cavalier/sunfire kit

some parts will be left over , and your on your own for fuel and pcm tuning

 

y don't u get a 2.0 intake manifold and bore/hone/port it and make it work... idk it sounds like a crud idea but maybe just maybe it will work =) and one question how much boost u going to run with the higher compression in the 2.2?

another stupid idea instead of a tune y not flash the 2.2 with a 2.0 stage one flash unless your auto like me it should work right?

 

Um... I didn't know we could flash the 2.2s yet... if we can GREAT!!! My friends car is gonna get turbo'd!!! If not.. o well...

NO you can't flash the 2.2 with a 2.0 tune, different ecu's.

 

he said he was going to use the same parameters with a universal flash on the same computer. Your simply changing values, not computers.

go to a junk yard and find a cobalt SS/SC that has been smashed and take the parts that you need. There has already been a yellow SS/SC out here that was rolled, there is another black SS/SC on these forums that was totaled out, topic is called farewell cobalt.
I'm willing to help as much as i can because i think im the only other person that thinks this will work. My project will be to get the 2.2L SC kit from GMPP to work. They said that everything will aslo bolt up to the cobalts 2.2L but the PCM code wont work. this kit was $1700 and it included everything needed from injectors to the manifold. The ecotec build guide will also walk you threw bolting this up.

 

no, those flashes wont work becuase they have VIN numbers in the flash and we dont have the right letter designation in our VIN number for it to work. i believe the 2.2L VIN letter is F and you have to have a J in your VIN for the flash to work

I like what the other members were saying about the wrecked SS models, just take the motor and tranny out of a totalled one and swap the whole thing. I am betting it would be less of a headache that trying to get the 2.0L blower to fit on the 2.2L...

 

i think gm gives a reflash (item #) in the build book i don't have my build book handy my friend has got it so as soon as i get it bak i will post some numbers (part # that is)

every computer is made specificially for that car. Try and bolt it into a different one, and it wont work.

You'd have to flash the computer, but you HAVE to get info from the dealer/gm on what info you need to know to flash it successfully. More often than not, it'll cost you too.

 

it is cheaper to buy the kit for the cavalier/sunfire than piecing it together........trust me

 

i believe you, but personally, its not worth investing a lot of money into a cobalt.

plus there are someparts in the kit you can sell , the cavalier sunfire people will need some of the parts you dont use
