View Full Version : Wht suspension setup on the SS? bullitzx2 05-26-2005, 01:18 PM Alriht i knw tht the ss comes with front independent suspension. springs and struts. but wht does the rear have just springs and the twistbeam axle? Eddie 05-26-2005, 03:10 PM front - struts/springs, rear- shocks/springs. Maven 06-03-2005, 03:09 PM rear suspension of the SS/ss is a semi independent twist beam with coil springs and antisway bar. base,ls,lt have no sway bar. Vita 07-02-2005, 04:01 AM anyone know if it's the same as the ION RL? (minus the lightweight components, only basic design/compatibility) Maven 07-02-2005, 03:14 PM Well Vita I am not sure what you mean by "lightweight components" but yes the Ion RL and Cobalt SS/sc share the same rear suspension/brakes, the cars are virtual twins on a mechanical level, they share many parts. Ljavy17 07-02-2005, 03:20 PM Will the eaibach Springs and those other H&R springs listed for the cobalt fit on an SS Maven 07-02-2005, 03:39 PM they will but you need to remember that the SS ALREADY has lower, stiffer springs than normal....putting a base Cobalt sport spring in an SS may actually RAISE the car and SOFTEN the ride. Mercury 07-21-2005, 01:50 AM How exactally would coilovers work on this rear setup? zinner 07-21-2005, 03:56 AM they will but you need to remember that the SS ALREADY has lower, stiffer springs than normal....putting a base Cobalt sport spring in an SS may actually RAISE the car and SOFTEN the ride. Well I saw an SS/SC with a lowered suspension at the Bash and it's definetly lower than stock. I am now sure about the ride. The guy is on this board and his car is picture of the month. |
