Woodward Dream Cruise

As a lot of people probably know the Woodward Dream Cruise is coming up on Saturday August 19 in Detroit. I was just wondering if there was going to be some sort of formal Cobalt SS/SC get-together. I don't really have time to organize anything but am definitely planning on going and thought it would be cool to cruise with some other 'balts...let me know if anyone has some good plans

Too hard to actually find a spot to put everyone during the cruise. You'd have to have reserved spots and park there the night before, or really early in the morning. I'll be there, but probably wont cruise much. Clutches are a pain in the ass for slow cruises.

I understand. I just thought of starting this thread in case someone has or finds a place where we can all meet up. If its going to be too crazy though or no one can find a place we'll all have to fly solo.

I think meeting up is a great idea. One suggestion would be at the GM Truck Product Center in Pontiac. We could all gather in the lot and head out together. It is about one mile off of woodward and about one mile off of 75. Easy access for most. Any other thoughts for a good meeting spot? Probably anything right on woodward will be packed.

I'll be there probably make a few passed on the cruise, but mostly gonna be looking around. Where is that GM Plant? I was just working at the GM Final Assembly plant on 2100 opdyke road.

im not sure I will go. Woodward has lost it's luster to me. The last two years didn't impress me all that much. Still keep me informed about where we are meeting in case I change my mind. Plus like Zen said. I hate operating a clutch in wall to wall traffic.

The place I was thinking of was the Centerpointe campus north building. It is at the corner of South Blvd and Centerpointe Pkwy.. Go east on South blvd from Woodward and the building is on your left. If on I75, get off at Square Lake Rd and take the Opdyke exit from Square Lake. When you get to the traffic light, just go straight thru and you are on Centerpointe Pkwy. Centerpointe dead ends into South blvd..

I'm sure ill be there, im down there with 06black almost every weekend

but for a meeting place, there is a hotel, marriot i think, at the opdyke and centerpnt pkwy, 75 to square lake, get off at opdyke and it literally right in front of you, then cruise down opdyke right into woodward...

It's good to hear so many of you will be there. As far as a meeting place goes, it makes no difference to me. Basically any place near where we could meet for a while, get on Woodward easily, cruise for just a little ways (because I know how congested it is) and then bug out would work because there probably won't be any parking along Woodward. I don't know the best democratic way to decide...maybe someone should start a poll or vote or something.

I will be down there quite a but this coming week. Should be in the RL, but might drive the Chevelle. But I will look for you guys while I'm there. My Chevelle is being put on display at a Mobil gas station party on Sat. so not sure how much cruising I will get in. Its just so busy on Sat. you are better off parking and walking.

My Chevelle is blue w/ a white stripe along the bottom. My plate reads "SKY RL" (dad ordered one and wanted the plate). If you see me, try and get my attention.

I'll be down there Thursday night (hopefully) and Friday night (for sure) cruising. Saturday morning I'll definitely be in the area, but I don't know how much cruising I'll be doing - I'll probably just park it. If you see my black SS/SC and/or 'RJSS's blue one, be sure to honk and wave.

Too many stupid cars and not enough real classic cars cruise woodward. Most park because of the retards that drive.

leave for woodward late friday/real early saturday...park then sleep in the car for a bit

that way you get a bitchin spot!

OK, so here is my proposed plan for a meet. Since it looks like most of us will be coming from the North, I think that the GM Truck plant on South Blvd that soccer1061287 proposed would be a fine meeting place. The time of the meet will be 9 AM Saturday. I don't believe that it will be too congested that far north near Woodward and it's just off I-75 so it should be fairly easy for everyone to get to no matter where you are coming from. As a backup place just in case for some reason the plant is blocked off or whatever, head over to the Amtrak station in Pontiac. It is right on Woodward and has a decently sized parking lot. Everyone is invited to come to the meet and bring cobalt, ion, neon, etc. The purpose of this is just to shoot the **** about cars and meet people in the area. I figure that we will spend about an hour or so just hanging out and then head down Woodward and attempt to cruise. I know that traffic gets really bad, especially in the afternoon, so after the meet you can cruise down as far as you want and then bug out as you feel necessary. Or just go to the meet and skip the cruise, whatever. Hopefully, CMJ917 and I will see you guys out there and if you need any more info let me know. Also, spread the word, the more the merrier.

PS-Post if you know you'll be able to make it, just as a heads up
