Sunroof Visor Problem....

Sup All,

I just bought my Sunburst Metallic Orange SS S/C. Two days ago. and yesterday I had a real stickyness with the sunvisor for the sunroof. It wouldn't slide back until I messed with it for a while, almost as if it was catching on a seal. It works fine now, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem also.

Thanks.

Yes, as soon as I picked up my car and tried to open the sunroof the visor got stuck. Had to pull the car right into the service bay. There was just some extra trim that wasn't cut off properly. 5 min fix and everything been great with the sunroof since.

No problems with my sunroof. I love it - it's the first one I've ever had. I even forgo turning on the a/c so I can open up the roof.

Yeh I had this problem. A few days later my sunroof wouldn't close. It's at the dealership now getting fixed. I'd get it checked out ASAP.
It worked fine for the first week or so.

I think I have this problem also. It's strange because it worked absolutely fine for a few days and all the sudden had a read bad sticky spot. It sounds like two pieces of styrofoam rubbing together if I try and force it a bit. I guess I will be calling the dealer.

Well.. I'd rather have this particular sunroof problem than a bad seal on the actual sunroof or anything that would case leaking!

You're right though.. we have no idea why the cards were held up for so damn long on sunroofs. It's not that much of a surprise.

I will try working mine back and forth a few times and see if it goes away, but I don't want to damage it or anything. It does require some fairly hefty force to get past the stick.

Where did it stick for the rest of you? It sticks about 3/4 of the way closed for me both trying to open and trying to close.

Insert foot in mouth. I had the sticky sunshade problem last week but took it in to get it adjusted. According to the invoice, the glass had to be readjusted.

My problem w/my SS/SC sunroof.

I have an appt w/my SS/SC on Monday. My sunroof doesn't open far enuf period. I compared it to another one the dealer has. The other one opens further. When I have it open, the air blows down inside the car pretty hard. Not right. When I first bought it and opened it the first time, it did open further. The 2nd time I opened it, it didn't open as far. I've had sunroofs in the past and they are to open enuf so you don't get wind gusts blasting down on your head! Sure, it helps cool things off, but that's not how they work. So, they have to look at it on Monday. UGH! Just dread taking it in there. But, they are pretty good people and have always taken good care of our cars. Oh yeah, forgot! The clip that goes around the open/close button just "fell off" about a month ago. Wouldn't go back on. They ordered another one. We'll see if they can get the new one on. UGH!

I found the problem guys. Crack open your sunroof to vent so you can see under it..(don't move it back). With your shade closed you'll see a long peice of thin gray foam across the back(toward the rear of the car). It's held on by sticky tape on the bottom. That rubs against the center black velvet like peice of 1 inch wide material.

I was with a guy today who got an SS in March and his sunroof did not have that gray strip on it and he never had a problem. I just peeled mine off. It's only a 50 cent peice of thin useless foam with sticky tape on the back. I couldn't figure out why it was on there to begin with. Could it be a packaging thing to prevent damage the sunroof? The only thing I can possibly think of is it may prevent a rattle or something with the shade. If you want, you can then stick it back on further away from the middle where it rubs and that should do it as well. It moves smoothely now with no rubbing.

I just noticed the same problem today and did the exact same thing. Works like a charm now.

shade/glass

My shade opens up far enuf, its the glass that doesn't open far enuf back. From inside the car, the glass only opens up at the 1/2 way point. It needs about 2-3" more. This foam is keeping my glass from opening? My shade opens back about 2-3" past my glass.

Mine took 2 weeks to come in. Maybe they ordered the wrong part. I didn't want mine glued in. Don't really know whey it just fell off. It's not broken at all.

How far does your "glass" open?

I haven't noticed any problems with my sunroof yet. My car got off the truck like 2 days ago though, so it might be fixed by now. The sunroof works great. I don't get blasts of air down on my head. I am in AZ with 100+ degree weather, and with the sunroof open and the AC on two, the car is nice and cool. You'd think with that hot air rushing overhead it would make the car hot as well...but that's not the case!

Yes, its 100+ here too! I keep the a/c on with it open too! Just cuz its fun! Can you measure (from the inside of the car) how far open you actually glass is? Using the inside of the trim of the opening. Mine only opens 1/2 way. I looked at another ss/sc on their lot and it opens 2-3" more than mine. Mine was acting strange the day I got it. The reason the air blows down hard inside is because its not open far enuf.
