Hey guys, couple of quick questions about a remote starter for our cars. Is there one out that anyone knows of? Does it matter if the car is manual transmission? What are the price ranges? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Is it possable that a remote fob for a 2007 cobalt with the remote start (rpo code ap3) be programed for a 2006 cobalt and work?

Don't our e-brakes suck so bad that not leaving the car in gear when parked isn't really an option? I dunno, after reading a lot of stories about cars rolling I started parking in gear, something I never ever did with my Sunfire.

Has anyone in the US got a remote start on their 5 speed? Last I heard it was Illegal in the US. It gets done mind you, it's just not legal. I watched a Honda Civic roll 15 feet with the e-brake on. Though I do think the common sense thing to do is just leave the damn thing in neutral.

are you saying it rolled by itself?

or when it was started and left in gear?

yea our e brakes do suck.. me and my mom were outside talking and the cobalt started rolling backward because it was in neutral... kinda weird, not that parking it in gear is a big deal, i just never had to do it in my beretta

the ebrake shouldnt slip.....if it does then you need to take it to the dealer and have them tihgten the cables up......mine works ok so far...just make sure you pull it up almost all the way....

It is not illegal to have a remote start on a manual transmission anymore here in the states. They do have them aftermarket and there is a sequence to shutting the car off in order to remote start it later on. And it doesn't cost any more money to have it installed because of being a stick shift. And $800 some dollars for one is very very pricey. You should be able to get one for about half of that price.
