some new info on GM stage 3
Found this out this morning, some juicy new details.....
Hello. No part number or pricing info is available, yet. Everything will probably be available next month. It'll include a 72mm pulley, 2-pass intercooler end plate, and the off-road PCM. The PCM includes a user-adjustible rev limit, a 100 octane spark curve, and a control algorithm for a 55 shot of Nitrous. It's not specific to the brand of Nitrous, but it is specific for a 55 shot.
The kit is "off-road use only." We have not gone through the expensive and long process of having it government emissions tested and validated (as well as some other validations). Technically, the kit is not street legal. Would it pass you local emissions testing??? Probably, but we don't guarantee it. Note that the kit also voids your warranty.
hmmm, interesting
enjoy!

Wow cant wait to get my overpriced and underpowered (w/o N02) GM kit that voids my warranty and will probably blow my engine after a few runs w/ N02 since it seems they will be leaving the stock connecting rods and pistons alone.

some more info from the horses mouth....
BTW, I am looking forward to using my NXL nozzel kit driven by stg 3 and it is a wet kit, I am going to start at 50shot and see if 75 will do aok
I would think with the dual pass setup and a NEW front mount heat exchanger this will be killer!
You could probably call it a "50 shot." 55 is just what we ended up with the Jet sizes we used. That was also the upper limit on a "dry" system. Note that we used Martin Motorsports (Harold Martin) for the Nitrous system on the Time Attack Cobalt (we actually used a 100 shot in that application - - you wouldn't want to put that much to your engine - - we made additional engine mods to take that much).
Yes, you can run the new Pulley with the Stage2 reflash. In fact, the horsepower is the same with the 77.9 or the new pulley. The issue is that it makes more heat, thus the need for the improved intercooler set-up to gain hp over Stage 2. Also important is that, with the new pulley, performance of the car will degrade quicker due to the heat build up if you don't use the dual pass intercooler.
Correct, the Stage 3 box is based on the Stage 2 injectors.
The engine will not reliably rev greater than 7000rpm without modification. If you want to turn over 7000rpm and are looking to increase reliability, we recommend upgrading to high-speed valve springs (Bates Engineering and PSI are possible sources) and using the GM Performance Parts neutral balance shafts 88958615

BUT nitrous does leave a residue.....
Remember using this with nos, the nos will definitely add more than just a power boost it will act as an intercooler also cooling the compressed charge

they know this is an off road race kit and they wont do it like stg 2 it has not been tested or validated and they are not backing it....makes sense if you are using nos you better know wtf you are doing...
I just want the dual pass plate, that's it. Everything else is
Too bad it wouldn't under warranty. There's realy no reason to get past a Stage 1, the flash is the same between the stages, just get a Stage 1 kit and a good aftermarket modular pulley system.
i just want that heat exchanger i could care less about the rest. Is there a way you can find out if that can be bought alone? Since the part is not mechanical I would assume that it alone could not void the cars original warranty in fact it would likely prolong the cars overall life.
I hate the fact that their stage 3 consists of nitrous. This is waht I think should be in stage 3:
Smaller pulley, 2.8 inch to be exact, i dont know how many milimeters that is
Better Ecu Tune
User Adjustable Rev Limit (only up to 7500 though so people don't go overboard)
Better Valve Springs
Forged Pistons
