I have an '05 2.2L Cobalt and just past 31,000 miles I had a coil go out. The 2.2 uses 2 coils, each firing 2 cylinders. I was just driving along making a left hand turn and one went out and dropped me to two cylinders. Got an opinon at Autozone and he agreed with my suspicions of a dead coil. I took my car home and installed the aftermarket remote coil to see if this fixed the problem and it did; then I knew it was the coil for sure. Monday morning I went in to the local dealer and explained the problem. Told him how I had diagnosed it and he said ok, that's no problem. They have replaced a few coil packs for this same problem already. They did have one car that also had a faulty injector.

I got a call later that day stating that my car was ready they had had one coil pack in stock and put it in my car and that's all it needed. The cover on the new pack doesn't have the decal so I am going by tomorrow to try to get the cover off of my old one.
