Question Turbo'd or Supercharger'd cobalt?

IF (notice how i said IF) chevy turbos the new 2008 cobalt, and has more TQ and HP STOCK then our STOCK ss/sc would you get it instead. And do you prefer a turbo over a supercharger if so why

EDIT: So even though the Turbo'd cobalt had lets say 260 HP and 260 TQ for example, you would stick with a supercharged one any way. Im not saying your gunna trade it in, like if you were gunna buy a new cobalt and had the choice between the 2 which one would you take?

I really love the superchargers man! Love the sound they make! Plus it kinda sets you away from all the ricers and stuff. BUT if the 08's are a AWD Turbo and maybe they do a couple other things that improve the overall car then yeah.

I am already considering gettin a 08. But i wish they would just improve on the supercharged 2.0 maybe get it around 250 hp stock AWD and redesign the body a little. Not that I don't already love the cobalt. But yeah LOVE THE WHINE!! I think the BOV's get annoying after while. I had a 2000 z24 with a Garret T3 and HKS BOV and it just got annoying after while

Turbo is the way to go if you want big power. To me it doesn't make a difference because my goal is to have mid-13 second fwd car. For me that is plenty fast for a tractionless fwd vehicle.

No, I would not trade mine for the turbo version. Yes, you can make more power with a turbo, and probably for less money. I would only want a turbo'd car for the track only. For my daily driver, I'll stay with the INSTANT torque of a supercharger, and the linear power curve. Just my opinion.

Turbo

why =

http://www.bolt.com/417supra/video/5...eo_large_PAGE1

although this is sweet but we dont have the displacement

But once again I must say that the throttle response from a SC is amazing.

I'd go with the Turbo. Before the SS SC I had a GTP, so I would like to try a turbo next.

I had a DET Sentra, and I loved that thing. I miss it a lot. I'm not to impressed with the stock SS/SC. I'd buy an SRT-4 if I was buying on or the other.

You guys need to look at the new 2.0 direct injection turbo motor, it will kick the crap out of the old S/C 2.0 off the line and up top. If you think turbos are all laggy and don't make torque down low then you have some studying to do.

Look at the totally flat torque curve, turbos kick ass!
New Turbo DI 2.0L

More power, better gas mileage, and more power with additional modifications. Seems like a no brainer to me to go with the turbo over the S/C. The S/C is old school/ ineffecient and will soon be totally gone at GM except for the XLR-V and the STS-V. The new motor will replace all four cylinder supercharged motors.

With that said I won't sell my brand new SS for a turbo SS, that's way to much money to throw away.

turbos do not produce more hp!! never proven look at all the top fuel dragsters do they use turbos?? Nope because you dont have all the power all the time, if your going for more hp the superchargers the way to go.

What if you want to make more power than 260hp? Any turbo that's big enough to make any serious power (11 sec 1/4 mile), will have lag, period.

You're right and wrong. They use blowers because they are very large displacement engines. Turbos can't move enough air to be useful to them. They'd have to use a turbo on every cylinder to get the air into the engine. For small engines turbos tend to be a better bet. For V8s superchargers are the way to go.

That said, I like the fact that the Cobalts are supercharged because they are different than the others. I wish I could've afforded the SS/SC.

um dude those are not real charts. they may be modeled to simulate real info using real data but I highly doubt it. it is likely a moc up of theoretical data

exactly thats why if your going for big power with turbos you have to go twin turbo a small and a large one for low end and big boost from your large turbo at top end, personally i like both it just after you do all the piping for the turbos and the huge intercoolers it all comes out to be the same weight, I would guess. I dont like my engine looking cluttered with stuff, sharp and clean thats how i like it.

No, this is a flat torque curve (Red Line)

Show me a modded turbo'd car with that flat of a curve, much less that much torque the INSTANT you floor it.
