anyone notice...

if yer car is off, and you play with the gears its so much easier than with the car on, mainly thrid, i did this today just to compare, and when my car is running, and ive got the car in neutral, its hard to shift into third, but when its off it goes in like butter everytime, this is with my foot on the clutch the whole time, is there a reason for this??

Maybe because the engine and drivetrain are at rest . The engine is not torqued over like it is when its running. Do you have the Ingalls Damper? I had a hard time shifting into 3rd until I got the damper.

Mine shifts to 3rd and 4th butter smooth... 1st is the hardest of all the gears.... dunno why but it seems impossible to downshift to 1st at over 30MPH...

If you keep shifting your car when your car is off you will mess up your syncros.

true, its not when the cars off thats the issue, its when its on and parked, even driving 3rd requires more effort, nto all the tiem though, just once in a while, im getting an oil change tomorrow and im gonna get them to look at the linkage to make sure everything is ok, wats involved when checking the linkage?

Our cars have a lockout that keeps you out of first until you are under a certain speed.

Bingo! The motor mounts on the Cobalt are so so so so SOFT. Almost everysingle member with the Ingalls Stiffy have reported smoother and more precise (sp) shifts in all types of driving conditions.
