I don't know if this thread was made before but I would like to get some input on your shift points, where you launch at ect. I have had my ss for a little bit and it seems that I have to push the clutch alot harded when i get on it (almost to the floor) or it wants to grind. I just installed a Spec Stage 2 with findanza flywheel. Alot different than my talon. Any input would be Great! Thanks Guys

How many miles did you have your car before your clutch went? I've seen a lot of people burn clutch's by slipping the clutch too much. On a low-traction FWD car like this that is easy to do.

That said, I think the best mod so far for me is the shift light. First gear happens so fast, that it just catches me off gaurd and I always hit the limiter.

Launching, I launch just about 1500 RPM. I try to keep the RPM's as low as I can, otherwise I spin easy. I could try higher RPM's, but then would have to slip the clutch more, and I'm hoping my clutch lasts, so it's not worth it to me.

At the track I always launched at a low RPM (1,500 max usually) mainly due to the 18 inch stock wheel/tire combo. Just like 03goblue mentioned slipping the clutch too much is a sure fire way of roasting it.

I also power-shifted a lot as well with no problems...at least 20+ on the 1-2 shift and 50+ on the 2-3 shift.

My spec 2+ is totally opposite . Mine is fully engadged after barely pressing the clutch in at all . Makes speed shifting a breeze . Im still on radials , but I have boost bleed off off the line thru pcm tuning for a breif second at launch ....then it comes on full . Helped immensely launching the car I launch at 2500-3000 or it will bog , dump the clutch and ease on the throttle till I can go WOT , sometimes I have to peddle a little bit . All my shifts are at 7K . 1-2 and 2-3 I speed shift , throttle on and jus barely tapping the clutch . Thats been the procedure for about 200 plus passes and counting

I try to pull out between 1500 and 1800 RPMs, once i get moving i ease into the throttle and once the clutch is out i mash it. I like to shift hard and fast. The faster you shift the better. Get outta one gear and start making power in the next.

With me I roll off the clutch just off idle (~1000 rpm) Then once the clutch is out before I relize it I'm boucing off the limiter in first so I shift with my right foot on the floor. Then second to third I practice alot so I hit that shift almost as fast as an automatic tranny, you can't even hear the shift in the exhaust! Pretty much just stomp on the clutch and get off it as fast as your leg can move!

I don't know about you guys but I still let off the gas and push the clutch in just as fast as if I were to stay on the gas and power shift... Just gotta time it

Plus it can give you some wheel hop on your 1-2 shift. It could even break a half shaft if you are unlucky.

If you want to run 15 seconds.. Sure.

I gained an entire second by keeping it full throttle the entire quarter.

If your not joking it means when you have to much power that the clucth can't handle so it slips thats why people usually get a performance clutch before a gm stage 2 install or shortly after.

no, it means riding the clutch out a little slower than dumping it so all the power dosent go strait to the wheeles and make them spin.

....I think what he meant was when people intentionally slip the clutch . Applying throttle and letting out the clutch enuff to move the car without fully releasing the clutch . Its great way to shed LOTS of life outa your cluch

Dont have much , I was hoping GTP and AVRO would chime in on this thread, considering their race experience as to compared with ours

Nobody was talking about clutch slip in that sense..........we were talking about powerwise how the clutch couldn't handle it and therefore would slip.

Thats why you buy a 6-puck, you can slip it and not have to worry about wearing out your clutch
