GMPP Exhaust Cat Back

Performance Sound or Touring Sound ?

Which one would/did you pick ? Why ? Is there a difference in performance or just the sound ?

Performance Sound $379

Touring Sound $459

I like the performance sound.

I just bought the performance.

i dunno if there is a how to but if there is one lemme know and I will search (dont have all the time to take time out to look)

where do you cut the stock exhaust so you can place the new exhaust. I was reading the literature yesterday on the installation instructions and I can picture in my head where to cut but at the same time the illustation provided doesn't show anything useful and when I do it I wanna do it correctly just for the sake of keeping my old parts as well.

edit: didn't mean to thread hijack

I think im going to get the performance. Is $379 a good price? or can I get it cheaper somewhere else?

What is typical labor costs at a muffler shop to have this put on?

do it yourself yo, from what I understand it takes like 30 minutes and after reading the instructions I can't see why it would take longer cus their are only 8 steps just need to get the car up on some racks first. but if you took it in it would likely cost $60-80

no doubt after tackling the installation of the cai I can seriously say installing something on your own is the only ticket to satisfaction.

just installed my exhaust ... OH ... MY ... GOD ... at idle it has a freakin deep tone that is slightly louder than stock. When you get ready to go it's noticable and sounds really good. accellerating through the gears the sound is just perfect not too soft but not too loud but deep as can be. The special sweet spot is at low rpm's in second WOT like your coming around a turn at a light and accellerating out of it ... HOLY FREAKING LOUDNESS BATMAN. Coupled with an injen intake the car both screams during accelleration at the people that see you coming and yells at them when you pass. 125% satisfied. I had to install it on low ground ramps so it took a while to get it done but it was easy once the stock exhaust was taken off. I would say the installation took about 40 minutes. The uninstall of the old one took like an hour and a half mostly cus the pipe was too hot for me to attempt to take it off even with protective gloves. When you cut the old exhaust make sure you have enough room to cut all the way through. I had to cut through the lil hanger cus I didn't have enough space to get through the pipe without hitting it.

nice write up, you have the same intake/catback combo as I do, and it gets agressive when you step on it,the gm catback is starting to look like the clear(exaust) winner on the site

yes the performance is louder. Though I wanna say it is way over 90db. That 90db rating has to be during freeway driving of maybe 65 or highway driving of 75 both in 4th gear. WOT I would say it has to be over 100db easy. ... My intake is still louder

Eh, whenever. I'm in no rush and there's no set time table, he's got to find out what it's going to take/cost to do what he wants and find a place to do it, get the stuff, and get it done before anything can happen.

Any welding involved? What tools are needed besides a hacksaw to cut the old muffler off?

I would use something like a grinder cus that pipe is pretty thick. No welding full bolt on. Tools required are basic everyday stuff and are listed on the instructions. What isn't listed which I should point out is the fact that you need wd-40, they say you need shop lube o.O? They say you need lube in the instructions and tell you where to apply it but letting it sit as the instructions say is actually wrong. You apply wd-40 to the rubber fasteners so that stuff comes off and goes on smoothly with little effort. Doing it the way the instructions say is near impossible unless the fasteners are new cus after some atmospheric conditions are meet those fasteners are going to soak up the lube then dry out almost immediately forcing you to use more lube.
