Apology on 20psi with Stage 2

Well, the car did pull like a rocket and hit 20psi by redline for about a day and a half. Then yesterday coming home from work my power went away and the car become quiet and slow as hell. P0420 is the CEL that followed, so that means my cat is toast and is blocking my exhaust badly.

I think I owe some people in here an apology about the 20psi. I'm sorry.

I'll clear my exhaust out today, and I'm going to make a highflow downpipe so I'll give you a more accurate reading later.

At least you found the problem and it's fixable. That's a plus.

I would straight pipe it, but I think it would throw another code resulting in power loss. My custom downpipe since I don't have time to order one will be 2.5" w/ a high flow magnaflow cat, and have mendral bends. I'll post pics later on when I finish.

Glad to see you found the problem. I really do suggest putting a straight pipe instead, maybe you could make a custom downpipe that has both? Then you could swap in a cat for emissions testing (if you have that), but run a straight pipe on the street/strip.

Well, I got the downpipe out. I held the pipe straight up and down, and all the stuff inside came pouring out!

I think I'll just stick with a high flow cat in my downpipe because I don't want to place any more possible leak spots, and my z24's high flow cat worked great! Thanks for the suggestion though! Off the the Parks automotive I go. Luckily I have a friend that works there, and his dad who own the place has a hard on for exhaust systems.

Well I am glad you found the problem before something bad happened. Take this as a lesson learned......If something doesn't seem right, good or bad, have it looked at and made right. A couple more HP isn't worth a new engine!

Glad to see you are finally getting your car back in running order 2K5SS/SC?. I've been following your posts for what seems forever. Hope everything with the cat works out!

BTW, are there any other symptons one should look for other than higher than normal boost in regards to a clogged cat? Will the DIC inform me of a problem with the P0420 CEL before I notice anything? Just curious, thanks!

No one in Charleston SC has a dman high flow cat! This is total bullshit!

If I weld a straight pipe where the cat used to be will I throw a CEL?

as far as i know a str8 pipe would eliminate one of your o2 sensors? so yes it will throw a code...
