It's the first official Message #: VSE20060290 I've seen from GM on the 07 Stage 2 kits.


The Cobalt Performance Accessories Stage 2 Kit (P/N 17803229) has not been released for and should not be installed on 2007 Cobalt SS Models at this time. The calibration for that vehicle application is currently under development and is expected to be released by the 4th Quarter of 2006.

This kit is currently released for 2005-06 Cobalt SS Models equipped with the 2.0L Supercharged engine (RPO LSJ).

The 2007 Stage Kit calibration is now available from GM as of 11.09.06.

 

I read about this befor eon this board. Sounds like they haven't figured out the software yet.

 

I have news for you they haven't figured out the 05-06 stage 2 calibration either the VE maps are a mess, but I fixed them in my tune and the driveability and power is much better.

The debate continues with the stage 2 upgrade , I just ran a 13.9 at 106 mph with a 2.8pulley and no injectors or reflash. If the computer has time to adapt to the higher boost , you can run Sunoco 94 and still run great times. No engine light and I made 4 passes.
Alcohol injection is next . In my humble opinion GM can shove the Stage 2 kit. The stock injectors can handle the additional boost.

 

This has been discussed before. I hope you have some way to track and monitor what you are doing

no i believe he's referring to a wideband b/c just because you haven't seen any codes yet doesnt mean you're not running lean.

I thought i heard someone saying that in stock form the injectors were at something like 90% duty cycle.

 

THe Cheap way is not always the best way, just know the risks you run by having stock injectors with that size pulley

As for the 2007 owners, hope you are very patient with your GM stage kits...

 

If I was running lean enough to cause damage the O2 would be giving me something. I pulled the plugs on the last run and they looked nice a toasty brown. I'm not worried.
I changed the pulley size on my 03 GTP and didn't have to get the chip flashed. If something happens it's easy to change back the pulley to stock.

So when will it be avail...I have an 07 with The G85 Package..and i want the kit...i just don't see why they would tune the ecu diff.. with 05-06 but not 07..can't be too big of a deal..but waiting for more info

 

wow, so finally stuff starts coming around for the SS/SC and then GM goes and changes the ecu. Well I guess if you bought a 07 it will be about next year before you can get your stage 2.

 

Any new news on this? I know some people with 07's are running this and I'm ready to get it but I don't want to mess anything up in the process.

 

Hey, as long as the Stage Two is ready for spring, i'm happy! Not much use driving the Cobalt when there's a metre of snow out.

 

 

I will be interested in the GM stage 2, but since I just got mine Monday...I think I'm gonna start with CAI, full exhaust(eventually) and suspension so that I can get traction. Also gonna save money for clutch and axles...Never know. Would rather GM get it right and take their time. HP Tuners is working a tune also that I will be keeping my eyes and ears open for.

 

Hey just thought i would let you know that the kits will be ready in nov. I ordered my car about 3 months ago, and the car was on a "engineering stopage," only for SS/SC models only due to problems with the S/C. On monday my car finally showed up, and i spoke with the guys at the dealership about getting the kit installed they said that they were told not to install the kits untill the first of nov. when the new engine remaps were released by GMP. According to them the only problem with the 05-06 kits were the remaps. IDK just what i heard.

 

The kit will be indentical. S/C problems worry me thought. I sure hope that 3 months isint a GM 3 months for your sake.

Well, here are my STG2 updates for ya'll...I have an 07 SS/SC, and I had set out last friday to get a 3" pulley installed and found out that I had purchased a used (had 630 miles and was used for track testing. Braking, cornering, ect.) new Cobey with the Stg2 kit. Upgraded 42.5lb injectors, belt, smaller pulley and...7K redline..So..No idea what the deal is on this, but figured I would let ya'll know and see what everyone else can come up with. So I had a 2.79 put on and one step colder plugs and MAN...Come on HP Tuners and exhaust
