View Full Version : Crappy Paint Job?

Has anyone noticed any 'spider' cracks in your front or rear bumper? A guy at work here has an SS with one on the rear bumper and I seem to have one on the front. Coincedentally, they are both Arrival Blue. i wonder if the reason Arrival Blue is being discontinued is because it's not good paint or something.

Anybody else have a crappy paint job? That really makes me a bit upset. More and more things are coming out that seem cheap in the SS. Perhaps the SS is just another one of GM's cheap peices of crap.

I've got Arrival Blue, I'll have to check the bumpers more closely.
But I do have little pinpoint spots of paint/clear on both doors that stick up above the rest of the finish.

FWIW - I also had the same thing on my Alero, I guess it's something to be expected from a vehicle at this price range.

the body shop at chevy repainted all the spot i complained about
tell your service advisor and they will send you to the P/B shop

I just finished washing and waxing her for the first time (4 days old). I have noticed that the paint colours on the maint body and the body and the body kit appear to be two different shades of yellow. Anyone else notice this ? I would be very interested about hearing from any other ppl that have noticed this .

Chances are that's normal. The issue is with the different materials - body is steel, bumpers are urethane, and some other parts are plastic.

The paint is the exact same color, but the different materials give it a slightly different appearance. So it may appear slightly darker or slightly ligher on the non-metal body parts - its nothing to worry about though, since there's really nothing that can be done to correct it ;)

So far.. for me personally, I don't have several of the problem the other guys have had. I have only had paint/bumper defect, sticky sunroof shade, loose passenger side door insert(but no leather has come out yet), and a random little read parking brake light coming on while driving once or twice. I've also got some rattles that I'm not sure where they are even coming from. I don't take rattles to dealers unless it's more obvious because they just say they didn't hear or couldn't fix it.

I don't use my sunroof often.. for fear that the switch and molding will fall off like everyone else's here!

All in all.. things are going OK.. but all of the issues seem to be related to 'cheaping out' if you willl. And there has been a good number of them for only having the car for a short time. I just hope it does not reflect what the rest of the life of the car will be like. I realize we need to cut some slack for a first year car and all, but that's a fine line. At least the car seems mechanically sound which is most important!

For the record.. I contacted my dealer about the bumper paint defects. That should be covered under warrenty and I should be hearing back from the dealer to make an appointment with the body shop.

I've got some chipped paint around the driver's side keyhole. While my damn key would be an obvious explanation, the paint's not scratched, instead, it came off in small chunks so it leads me to believe that it might be some paint defects

Take a look at my photo gallery, paint started falling off my car right where the fenders meet the bumper cover.

I brought it to my local dealers attention over a month ago and it just now went in to get fixed.

Isn't paint spider webbing a indication that someone bumped into your flexible bumper? Not enough of a bump to stay dented but enough of a flex to damage the paint.

I had someone do this to my previous car in the parking lot here at work, they left the scene and luckily someone from another building saw it and got their plates, whew!

eh yea i noticed some paint flaking, and my gaps on my car arent the best. especailly in the front near my hood and my headlights. one side sticks up more, but it could be the bumper cover.

Did you try greasing your hinges?
