Here's the details, courtesy of an 8thCivic forum member, Nox.

Let me be the first to suggest a Cobalt vs Civic shootout. Kinda like the evo vs sti shootouts. We could do it in the spring, that would give everyone time to get ready.

The location will be determined by the participants. Wherever the heaviest concentration is, we will probably be in that region. Looks like central and east are leading candidates as of now.

Initial date would be April 13 & 14. However that is flexible based on participant schedules and track availibility.

Friday night cruise in at a local Hooters or similair. Saturday afternoon time trials. Saturday night racing. We will also be holding an open car show. Any make any model. Classes to be determined based on entries.

We also need a race field of minimum 16, to a maximum of 32 cars. Single elimination.

1. One power adder
2. Must drive car from home to event - no trailering
3. DOT street slicks
4. Track to be determined by location of participants and track availibility.
5. Heads up - First to finish line wins, single elimnation.
6. Brackets set by cars and qualifying times. ie...civics vs cobalts...ladders set by qualifying times.


I am sure we would add other rules along the way.

I would not hesitate to say that the 2.4 is a car to be reckoned with. I've been beaten at the strip by a Silver 4-door... And there is a tuned 2.4SS coupe around my way that is one fast SOB.

I think everyone doing this should get an aftermarket clutch and new axles. Dot Slicks are gonna hook up like nothing a stock Cobalt will ever see. I'm guessing my axles would snap if I were to hook up right now.

My axles and clutch and flywheel should be installed next week so thats covered (fx400 6puck and fidanze flywheel)

Yeah, RL's are invited as well. Also, I dont believe this will be at Norwalk. Its sounding like its goin to be out East, Virginia, Carolina, etc... Since it is in April it needs to be somewhere "warmer". If it was at Norwalk, there is a good chance the track could be coverd in snow!

We're gonna be doing alot more than just the 1/4 Dan. I could have put it in alot of different places and it would have applied. I couldn't very well post it in a regional spot because we don't where it's taking place yet.

I'll be bringing a custom intake, 60s, 2.5", 7600 rpm with built valvetrain, downpipe, exhaust manifold, LFP HE, Ice Box with dry ice, 110 octane fuel (I think they supply it there, just have to pay like $5/gal), HP Tuners on laptop, axles, clutch, DOT Slicks, extremely ported blower and TB, and if I'm really really really lucky...maybe I'll have the money together to just swap to a Whipple...oh and forged pistons...

I like the idea of Norfolk...as I stated on 8th civic and RL forums, if we go there a day ahead of time and everyone close to needing axles goes, we'll just go to INTENSE. If you guy the axles from them, they install them for free!!!

I agree, the RSX-S should also be included. I am sure there will be some that show up. By the looks of it I think many different cars will try and jump in.

If that's what everyone wants. There is a little more difference between an SI and Type S than there is between a Ion Redline and Cobalt SS S/C. But if the concensus is Type S's should be allowed, far be it from me to dispute the majority. Just pop in at the 8thcivic forum and see what they think there.

I think a great format would be:

Cobalt/SS/Cobalt 2.4ss vs. 8thGen Civic/Si/RSX

Classes should be Forced Induction and Nitros (Open Class)
Bolt On Mods (Modified Class)
Stock Class (no mods other than tires)

Events: MUST COMPETE IN ALL SCHEDULED EVENTS TO WIN CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP

1. Quarter Mile ( 3 PASSES) (best run)
2. Autocross (3 RUNS) (best lap)
3. Track Event (3 laps) (best lap)**

**If the Track event fails to be safe enough...have two events include the fastest 1/8th and then fastest 1/4 miles times.

Followed by two autocrosses: One lap clockwise (fastest lap) 2nd lap counter clockwise on the same course (take fastest lap)+ fastest 1/8 and 1/4 mile times= lowest combined time wins!

This allows easy set up for both events and guarantees an OBJECTIVE winner unlike car shows.

SCCA National Tours always change direction of the course on day two. Been doing that way for years and technically it changes dramatically how to drive it. I am saying 3 runs in each direction.

Just to let you guys know...for all the people that want to twincharge, there is a shop that sells Twincharges (RL owner) kit...only thing you guys would have to do is modify the intake piping from the turbo to the s/c in case you wanted to do this before the face off...

Ok so it would be a total of six runs 3 in each direction, I must have missread your 1 lap in each direction comment thats why it didn't make any sence.

You obviously don't know much about Honda's..but I do. So let me tell you something. Your puttin down anywhere between 240whp-280whp, and probably running at best low 13's with street tires. A 2200 lb street Civic/CRX/Hatch can run 12's easily with around 200whp. And the launch is soooo much better because the car only has 150ft/lbs tq at best. Unless they are using an H22 block, of course. So don't talk shit when the cars you'd be racing are more than likely faster by a long shot. God help you if a turbo'ed Honda came to the meet. You'd lose, everytime...especially against a B16a Turbo, because the car will be pullin 1.5 60' times. And in drag racing, no one gives a crap if your car can pull hard the last 300 ft of the track...by that time, you've already lost. I like Cobalts, but Cobalt owners have no place for talkin shit against other tuners. I've seen nothing out of the Cobalt that a Honda hasn't already done-->and that includes EVERYTHING. If it's a decent meet, you'll prolly see a few 10 sec. street Honda's. It's not uncommon. Show some respect. And YES, there are NA Honda's that can take a maxed out M62 blown Balt and beat them by lengths. Did you know that an H22 can put out over 250whp with pump gas in NA form? Did you also know that a K20A can put out as much as 275whp on pump gas in NA form? These numbers are better than alot of blown setups running 17psi with all the supporting bolt-ons. Let's not forget that Honda's are geared much lower for a much faster acceleration...which again..is the point to drag racing. Don't talk shit..you have no right to say such things against Honda's. Give the Balt about 5 years of R&D, then you can be disrespectful.

Let me tell you something about this thread, apparently you don't know much about it let me educate you. It's not for you to come in here and start argueing. This is for setting up a track day for a friendly competition with the 8thcivic owners. If you don't like what Waylin said I don't care, pm him. Hah hah, did you wonder too far from our welcome spot? I just stick to that one thread so as to not troll. I ventured on post when they realized that their car has the same EDR system our car does. They were pretty upset that Honda could read their computer and see how often they redline the car.
