how many 5speeds do we have out there? and how many would be interested in a short shifter. I'm currently looking for interest really. the price is unknown as of yet. for the short shifter. and these short shifters are usually have a shorter throw than any shifters on the market. the manufacture is TWM. i'm sure you've seen them on magazines. they make great stuff. and hopefully they become a supporting vendor with us. Let me know if anyone is interested in a short shifter. these short shifters are currently available, so there would be no wait, to my knowledge. They are currently working on the SS models so stay tuned. this is for the 2.2 cobalts and pursuits. show interest on here please.

im interested, ive wanted one for a while, i was looking at the b&m ones but if you can get this one cheaper ill probably buy it, also it would be nice if someone could explain how to install them thanks

install directions should come with it, but its pretty much straight forward. remove center console. detatch the clips for the shift linkage, unbolt the shifter assembly. swap shifter, replace bushings. reinstall linkage, and thats it. shouldnt be much more. I am not sure how much the B&M one is going for. but I believe the TWM comes with its own precision cut shift nob that acts as a counter weight to help improve shorter throws. the twm shifter reduces the throws by 38% i believe and reduces nob height by 2". I'm sure if we get around 15-20 members interested in this i'm sure prices would be low. but I'm not sure, i'm not incharge of price, usualy price depends on quantity ordered. so the more people order the lower the price. so if you know anyone that has a 5 speed cobalt, non ss. then tell them to get here and get in on the group purchase.

TWM is the first company that offers an aftermarket short shifter. So that shows the market is getting better for it.

cobalt and pursuit. are sister cars, and anything fits the cobalt will fit the pursuit. and visaversa.

as far as the ss having a short shifter. yes a basic one. but theres always room for improvement.

i was interested in one until i realized I wouldnt know how to install it. Also, someone told me it would make it harder to shift, even though its quicker. Basically, I would need more strength just to shift. It looks nicer, but I guess it would be less of a luxury?

We're actually in the process of setting up a sponsorship with Jonel but I wanted to post and introduce ourselves to everyone. We're very happy to be getting involved with this exciting new vehicle and I very much look forward to working with the Cobalt/Pursuit community.

Our Cobalt/Pursuit shifter is available now and we're currently looking for a Cobalt SS test car so that we can complete the design of the SS shifter. Those shifters have already been tried and tested buddy, they work.

The $90 MK1 shifter on ebay has been tested and proven to work. As shown here.

im down for the shifter in my cobalt as long as there is not going to be prob to install

I've thought about it but I'm going to be extremely picky on the appearance of the knob. As well, I'm assuming I don't have to make any changes to the boot since I like the leather wrapped shifter :-D! I've actually considered requesting the one used on the SS for my LS since I really like the shifter knob on that one...clean and simple. The above also looks nice but I'm not sure I'd be wild about the aluminum in the hot sun...nothing like scorching your hand after work :lol:!

Dont worry about how the silver shift knob will look because you can always upgrade it to the 454 g. knob. I installed it myself and found it very easy aslong as you follow the directions step by step. It is a lil harder to shift but since i got the upgraded shiftknob it works as a great counterbalance to keep it the same. heres a pic of mine in my car having a blackshifter. looks mint.
