new Car & Driver SS/SC review at VIR
new Car & Driver SS/SC review at VIR
hello everyone, you'll want to get your hands on the November 2006 Car & Driver mag. The have started a new testing format for sports cars called "Lightning Lap" which takes place at VIR (Virginia International Raceway). The Cobalt SS/SC is in the LL1 class against the 350Z track, EVO MR, RX-8, Stang GT, GTI, Civic SI, and Miata MX-5.... well out of these cars the SS/SC placed 4 overall
ahead of the GT, GTI, SI and MX-5.... it's more of a race track test that omits preferences like fit and finish, location of cup holder, trunck access, size of wing, ect.... Read up and you'll be proud of your SC. This tests puts the other reviews in perspective!!!

I like my wing. Having the option for others is fine but losing it all together I disagree with.

"Laces out" is the first thing I think of when I see that wing. I think a lip spoiler would look better, but as for the performance aspects of the car, SS/SC is amazing in the turns, at least that is how I felt when I had a redline. But wing = goal post.

The wing has grown on me personally. I hated it at first but it's hard to imagine my car without it now.
As for the review, that's cool. I don't know much or anything for that matter about VIR but I hope it's a well balanced track that won't favor some cars over others.
I'd have to say that when I first got the SS/Sc I too thought the wing was a little big...but the more that I view it from different angles, etc. I think it goes nicely and makes it different... I do like the RKS 3 piece spoiler, but not enough to drop hard-earned cash on it that will be better utilized upgrading perfromance.
Big peeve of mine is the all-show, no go cars...
