Why???

Why do guys like waist so much money on your ss/sc with stage kits, and all your other toys and then just want to trade it in and get stiffed on trade value. Why do u people buy the ss upgrade and just want to get rid of it just like that? I see more of it every day.. I would be happy to just have a stock ss/sc

i bet it's because people always want more, then realize that it's not practical to spend so much money on a car...

It's a hobby for me. Have you ever had a hobby? Maybe you collected stamps, or something else really boring. For me I like to turn a wrench and run the 1/4 when I have the chance.

it's not like they buy the car knowing they are going to trade it in. why do you fix up your ls cobalt? same reason everyone else does.

It dosent make sense I have been seeing people with ss/sc with like 7k miles and tradin it in with a stage 3 and whatever else and trying to get like 24-26k becuase they think there stage kits bring the value up when they dont.

I plan to be happy with Stage 2 w/2.8 and supporting mods. that'll be enough for me.

waste not waist

I like my ss/sc. I do not plan on getting rid of it any time soon. It gets awesome gas mileage compared to my previous ride & is a lot more comfortable. I am happy with all of my mods thus far. I am looking forward to opening the packages from cobaltperformanceparts.com as soon as my husband comes home. I get to stare at the boxes until he comes home from offshore though. I also do not find any of the stuff I have done to the car a waste of money.

I've seen alot more people part out their SS S/C's before they trade them in and buy something faster.

what part of my post doesn't coincide w/ your original post? you asked a question that people have different answers to. more than likely people get rid of the cobalt for an upgrade. guess i'll break down my post barney style. you see when people buy their cars they don't think of trading it in anytime soon or selling it. so, they fix up their cars spending a couple of thousands. later, they realize that they want another car that is faster or more economical, whatever their reason.

Maybe it comes down to economics for them? Maybe they get bored of it? I had a 04 GTO before I bought my SS/SC, I got bored of the GTO and it just sat parked in the garage. I had the GTO for 2 years. Im sure in 2-3 years I'll be tired of the SS/SC as well, who knows though. I could also see myself keeping this one for awhile because Im actually happier with it than I was with the GTO. Maybe I should just lease cars instead of buying.

I'm tired of my SS. I've thought about selling it and buying a truck again. But it's just soo good on gas.

I Havn't gotten to do much to mine yet, but I plan on it. For most of us, it is Hobby. My whole life has revolved around cars, since I was in diapers, my father always took me to the racetrack, which made me who I am today. I raced since the age of 10 in junior dragsters and now I race the 1/4 mile every weekend. My racecar and my Balt are like my children. I take very good care of them, and they're expensive, just like a child would be. If your child wants or needs new shoes, do you not buy them for them (if you have the money, that is.) Same with a car, car looks like it needs some new tires because the Pirelli's aint lookin too good anymore, and you buy your car some new shoes...use the stock for winter, use the new ones for good weather. Your child gets sick, you take them to the doctor, and the doctor prescribes medication, right? Your car isn't running quite the way you want it to, so you upgrade with new and better parts, sometimes aftermarket. That's the way I look at it. To each his own, but I hold a tremendous amount of respect for people that do all the work on their own cars. If you don't agree with people putting money into their cars, that's your own opinion. Unfortunately sometimes people can't afford to keep their cars, after they have upgraded them, or they decide they want something else. It's not effecting you, and it shouldn't **** you off. I plan on keeping mine for a looooong time. I worked my @$$ off to pay for this car, and was determined since I seen the concept Cobalt that I was going to have one. Here I am.

Can I marry you^^^^
j/k... but modding cars has been my hobby all my life... I don't plan on ever getting rid of the cobalt... it'll just get faster and faster... I'll probably end up buying a beater once the car gets out of everday driveability... but my cobalt is going no where
