Got my GMPP exhaust manifold!!!
Got my GMPP exhaust manifold!!!
Just arrived in the mail from CrateEngineDepot.com!!!
It'll be going on this Wednesday and hopefully, I'll be able to hit the track one more time before the end of the season.

If anyone wants any measurements off it, ask now before I install it.
I also want to thank Crate Engine Depot for having that group buy on this piece! Awesome service and quick delivery. I'd definitely order from these guys again.
For all those in Canada reading this, I got lucky. It got shipped USPS right to my door without any extra duty of taxes added on!!!

I'll take some more pics of the inside of this one, and then pics of the other one after it's off.

Even if it takes a little bit longer with USPS it's well worth it! Iit's considerably cheaper, never a hassle, and there are never any "extra" charges. Anyone getting stuff shipped from the States to Canada should insist on using USPS!!!
Big thanks to Crate Engine Depot for using the shipping company I requested.

You know... I was actually already thinking about that.
Dammit, now that you've said it, I'm really tempted to do it.

That was a while ago though, so yes, the group buy is probably over.

I did a search was it a thread on ss.net here?

Yes it was... It was put on by CrateEngineDepot.com.
I can't remember when the original thread was started though.
I'm just curious, this is not a dis or anything. But why would anyone choose a GMMP extrude honed manifold that will net maybe 4-6hp (only flows 30cfm more than stock) for about $279, when you can get an equal length stainless steel header from Cobalt Addiction with a lifetime warranty for $199.95 w/gaskets and studs?
Not only will the equal length primarys make your car run smoother (equalizes power of each cylinder), but it has been dyno'd at 8-10 WHP gain on a 2.4 - twice what the GMPP Manifold will yield.(you'll probably get more on a 2.0 and a little less on a 2.2). Plus it's about 4lbs lighter too.
I've got one. It bolts right up on 2.0 and 2.4 (some 2.2 fitment issues - call before you order) with no problems. Its 2.25" collector gives nice low-end torque too.

For the same reason people pay $1200 for a $100 pully a $20 belt and $150 injectors.
Ill give you 2 guesses, and one of them has to end with "arranty"
There's a few reasons I went with the GMPP manifold. First, yes, warranty. Another reason is that I knew it would bolt up no problems. While I do believe in dyno's, the difference between a 4-6 hp gain, vs. a 8-10 hp gain is pretty minimal. With the cast manifold, I should never have to worry about it cracking, twisting or welds breaking. As far as weight goes, again, minimal difference. On a street driven car that's a weekend racer, a couple of lbs won't make any significance difference.
Either way, I think the downpipe is much more of a restriction then the manifold. When I get that changed, I think the exhaust's greatest restriction will be taken care of.
As far as what gains did I get with the GMPP manifold? With everything else staying the same, I manage to pick up 3 mph though the traps in the 1/4 mile. As far as I'm concerned, for a few hundred dollars, I think that's a pretty good gain.

I feel sorry for folks if they paid 1200 for their stage 2 part and labor!

When I punched it to get on the on-ramp it's growl took him by suprise, cause he fell way back like he was scared he bit off more than he could chew. He probably thought I was a modded SC. He could have easily taken my 2.4 auto, but the intimidation factor caused him to drop back.
