New auto-x, new thread...(10/8 @ SCR)
K, so, who all is joining in on the fun on the 8th????????
I'll be there. Gotta get as much vehicle abuse in as possible before winter. I hope that ******* Protege is there. I want revenge, LOL.
That's going to be my vehicle to hate. Dave hated S4's for a long time, Wes hates J bodies, don't know what everyone else hates....but needless to say I have a deep deep hatred for a certain Mazda........
Oh and just to throw this out there for anyone who is interested *cough*BRIAN*cough* there is an open track day October 29th at BeaveRun. Yours truly will be attending (and running), anyone else that wants to come up either to spectate or participate is more than welcome. It's always a fun time and lots of cars you don't see every day both on the track and off. *cough*Lingenfelter Track Edition Z06*cough*
Last time they let me and an Integra Type-R pretty much go at it bumper to bumper on the course.

I love how everyone just knows my opinion on J-bodies. Alan introduces me to his buddy that owns a Cavy and he told him I was the resident J-Body expert. The guy took him seriously, lol he was disappointed.

how was sheetz? i def had fun studying
It's about 160 bucks for the event ( the track day... nbot the auto-x )... you have to pre-register I hear for it.
You're looking at a Long ass drive from philly for the track day. That's your call.
I'll post a link to the event. It's a "MINI-club" event, but not ONLY for Minis
I WILL be at the Auto-X this weekend.
Looks like all my hard work is for nothing this season....
Just realized that I never sent my SCCA app in... so I can't get "rookie of the year" even if I was voted for.
And... enxt year I'll too many events.
I just can't win for losing.
Alicia.... so you're not going to Central for the witches run now???
I'm leaning towards going to Cumberland for the pumpkin carving course Auto-X.

wes... I'd say since you drive all the way to PRP... that BR should not be far for ya.
I'm looking forward to getting this last one done. I want to have some more cone kills.
Since I'm out of the running for ROY award... I can concetrate on keeping 5th in STC.
R-comps are going to be a must for SCR events next year regardless what class I run in.

Wanna hear something weird, Brian?
I get home from work and I found a note on my car (which I left out last night cause I just didn't feel like putting it in the garage). All it said was "Trunk Monkey was here" and how weird it was cause they live like a couple streets away I guess?????
The only thing I can think is it's the guy with the Suby that runs with the monkey hanging out of his trunk. Otherwise I have some crazed psycho stalker that calls themselves "trunk monkey".....

October 29th, registration opens I believe at 8am, driver's meeting at either 9 or 9:30 I think (there should be a schedule on the website - www.beaverun.com). You basically just take the Turnpike all the way to the Beaver Valley exit (#13 I think). I know some people from Allentown and Philly that might be coming down, you may be able to car pool with them.

NO... that was him... his name is Morgan aka.. trunk monkey...
He sent me a PM today on RacePA that he saw your car near his place. He said... hey that 72 DSP car that ran with you... I think she lives by me.......
No Stalkers..... well.. none that I know of anyway... you never know though....
lol
that car is retired BTW... he spun a bearing yesterday, and had to have it towed home. If he doesn't drop a new motor in it, the monkey will have a new ride next year. He's hooked on Auto-x as well.

LOL, I seem to collect stalkers. ATM I have 5 that I know of. Two of which are the reason why my plans for racing in Central changed both this past weekend and this weekend coming up. And also add more incentive to doing the open track day the 29th as opposed to going out there for the Halloween event...
LOL, this just in: I NEED BRAKES!!!!! (Probably before the next open track day...I have metal showing through the material on the rotors....)
Anyone have the part numbers for the STOCK rotors? I think I'm going to get stock rotors with Hawk pads. Haven't decided yet...

hmmmm
I have them somewhere here.....
Good luck finding anything cheap.
I talked to Stoptech... and they said they'd sell me blanks ( stock size ) ..
Fronts ($60 each)
Rears ( $42 each )
I have a contact person there if you are interested.
AND I have part #'s for everything.
I also have prices for their slotted or drilled applications as well.
The blanks have a VERY QUICK turnaround, but the slotted or driled are around 2 weeks.
That might have changed since I talked to them. They might have some stocked now.
Let me know.
These are alot cheaper than even Autosupermarket brakes ( 78 each for fronts 50 for rears )

I can't do drilled or slotted either (road course no-no).
Eh, I'll keep looking. Maybe I can at least get the pads ordered.

They're a little more expensive than stock, but from what everyone is saying, it's definitely worth it if you have to get on the brakes hard and often.

So if I'm not going with those, chances are I'm just better off going through my family and getting the OEMs.

Believe me... I don't blame you. If I had a relative, I'd be doing the same... regardless of the application.
I'm ordering the stoptech rotors ( most likely blanks ) and my Satisfied Gran Sport pads over the winter.
Now that I know how to change my brakes, it'll be a snap.
Yeah, I need to look into it some more. I really want to do the track day on the 29th but it's not worth it if I don't have the brakes to keep the car under control. It's so not worth getting it in the grass, or worse, wrecking the car.
i KNOW that the GM OEM rotors are NOT cheap. They are most likely decently priced with your connection, but otherwise, you'd be better just getting some Raybestos rotors or something.
By next year, there should be some decent "throw away" rotors out there as well, so you can buy a couple sets, use them for the track and throw a fresh set one when they are needed.
If I'm in DSP ... I plan on doing alot of brake work. Better pads, rotors... ss brake lines, PLUS the fluid swap ( which I'm doing either way )
Also... the strut bar is going on and the rear support bar is as well.
