They shoulda just made a supercharged coupe and sedan SS, instead of this crap. The supercharged sedan would be a good idea for people looking to buy an Evo or SRT-4, but can't afford an EVo and don't like an SRT-4. I might have bought one if it woulda came out5 the same time as the coupe, cuz i have a family, and it woulda been cool to have a fun little supercharged sedan to drive around it

I agree though, I think it would have been smarter to offer the 2.4 as an option, or even standard, in the LT/LTZ rather than make a non-supercharged SS coupe and sedan. I also think it would have been smart to make a supercharged sedan, there are a lot of people I know that like the practicality of a sedan but still want performance engine.
Yes.. I hate to see the SS badging get diluted like this. As much as I love my cobalt SS/SC, even THAT is borderline of being worthy of the SS legacy.
However in today's Chevy lineup.. more so for 2006, almost every freakin car has an SS version.
I don't want to see my car devalued even more because of these diluted lower model SSes. While I think the current Cobalt lineup could use a model inbetween SS/SC and LT, It should NOT be called an SS. They should have left the lineup as is and introduced the LTZ with what the SS non supercharged will have.
Having a Sedan with the SS label is a more decent idea, but there's hardly anything special about it. It does look like all it has is a body kit, but a lousy one at that. Look at the SS/SC front/rear bumper ground effects and then look at that thing.. ugh.. If your going to make an SS sedan, MAKE IT LOOK GOOD! Make it look it better than the other sedan offerings. If you glance quick, you can't even tell it's an SS aside fromt he badging and wheels.

I can understand GM wanting an SS line across multiple models (like the SRTs for Dodge), but doing crap like this dilutes the name, to use your wording. If you're going to make a "sport performance" line then don't junk it up with cars with mere appearance upgrades, reserve it for cars built for performance...
I kinda like it, it would be nice 172 HP is a good amount, about the same as a VW Jetta GLI with the 1.8T. Prob weighs the same too. Its just a option for those who want something that is quick but not crazy. The apperance isn't that crazy anyways.
Looks great and dont forget there is an ss coupe coming out to that will have mroe laid back spoiler ect. I think it was avery good move its for the people who want a performace modded car without the flashy extras...
as for people who say all of the SS's ruin the legacy... I think they are making it better... the more there are sold the better the name will be.... its not like these cars wont sell
If you want a car that is insanely exclusive go buy a bently or somethin

Maybe that wasn't a spy shot and it was just a picture of someone's sedan that wanted it to have some SS stuff on it just chilling in a parking lot. Was there anything in the picture that was brand new...not released?

I would like it a lot better if they put the coupe-style rear end on it, but it's OK. It's still an excellent compact sedan for the money, and the suspension tweaks might be enough to propel it past the 3.
PS: Bimmer325 - nice to see you here too
