Talking GTX Sport Cobalt

I was driving past my local dealer and saw this Victory Red 2.2. but it was not a regular 2.2. it had the ss/sc wing on it. 16" chrome chevy rims, chrome grille, some window tint, and had GTX Sport logo on the side of the doors and one big ass one on the front window. WTF. wut is GM/Chevy doing to these cars. it looked like total rice.

Thats not GM that's some stupid dealer whipping up some sticky american rice. Take a $15K LS add the SS spoiler and some stickers, and BAM! you have the $20K GTX!

Actually that isn't quite correct... if you go to Gm's accessories zone they actually have several GM "RICED" sticker and body kit combos you can buy and the GTX is one of them!

Yeah, i was gonna say that. They put the GTX sticker package on a red SS/SC here at my dealer, and i was ready to kill someone. They actually had to take it off to sell the car.

i read on one of the cobalt myspace groups that the dealer put the bullshit stickers on and came up with a nice story... they told her that it is an "elite" cobalt, and each dealer only gets 1 0f these so it's very rare and will be different from what anyone else has... blah blay blah, etc etc the dealer hyped it up to no end probably... i told her it was a sticker package that cost 200 dollars and she never responded...

i belive the caption is something similar to this:

"Turn your ordinary cobalt into a profitable fast and furious winning machine."

I haven't had the pleasure, or displeasure (depending how you look at it) of spotting a GTX, but I have seen the Rally Sport! Oh dealers, you make me laugh so much.

yeah, there's a used car dealer over in Vergennes VT... he had this base 97 Cavalier coupe on the lot. They threw an aftermarket spoiler, Z24 wheels, slapped a "GTZ" stripe kit on it and tried to pass it off as some very Cavalier GTZ.... I stopped in, talked to the goon at the desk and he went on and on about how rare these cars were, and how they couldn't let it go for anything less than $8000 (this was in 2002)... I'm a ***** about things like these so I let him spiel off and then said, "you know, you're full of ****.
I've done nothing but Cavaliers since 1996. I've had eight of them... I am a j-body afficianado... there was no GTZ Cavalier. It's a stripe kit you got through Yipes... i've seen it slapped on everything from a Lumina to a Taurus. I think you better strip that rare bullshit off the car before someone turns you in for false advertising."

he looked like a fish that had been gaffed. Sometimes, you just have to be a dick.

Haha, I always love these threads. Ive seen GTX's, RS's, and X-Ray's, yep theyre all dealer race inspired cosmetic enhancements. Just slap on some 16's, SS spoiler and a bunch of stickers, and voila you have a fast one on your hands. However, there are some good dealer "balts out there. Theres a lazer blue LT going around here who looks real nice, and it was all dealer installed. But most often they're the base 'balts with 16's and a spoiler.

Best one we had here had the chrome door handles and chrome grill added, along with the gm pedals, and that was it. Looked kinda silly, yellow SS/SC with the only chrome on the car on the door handles and around the grille.

Pretty sure the transmission and axles are covered under both the bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranty, so I'm not sure where you're going with this.

But yeah, I saw those sticker kits somewhere as genuine GM parts. All the car companies have thier stupid ****.

There's a dealer near my buddy in Louisville, KY that sells Hummers, and every single one of them has big-inch chrome wheels on it - 20's, 22's, etc.

Yeah, pretty much. It's just really out of place, there is no other chrome on the car. Only inside the headlights, if you count that. The girl who owns it now comes in to me for service, and so far one of the handles has broken, since they are more cheaply made then the factory ones. She also had the clutch pedal cover fall off and the plate on top of the shifter. Also, the car is dirty and smells like ass with about 5000 miles on it.
