yeha those shrouds were on sale fromt eh same buyer i won the projectors from. I asked him about them after i won and he gave me a big discount off the price he listed them at. And yeah i agree they look pretty awesome. Now its time to start cutting into the relfector.

I think Mercury started a major trend or at least proved to everyone that we have big headights and should take advantage of them .

My e46 Bi-xenon projectors are in the mail and my spare headlights have been in pieces for days. Once they arrive, the dremel gets to have a little bonding time with the reflectors

The shrouds do look good! I realize this post is over a month old, so do you have any finished pictures?

Don't Flame if I am a Medic and revive a thread.

Hasn't moved an inch...too damn busy...plus I don't have access to a ton of tools.

edit: I tested the projectors and balasts. At least they work. LOL

Now in terms of wiring...do we need to incorporate a diode into the line to stop the low beam signal from tripping the shield?

refer to Merc's original thread. Look at his wiring diagram. If i remember correctly its there to keep the bulb lit when you hit the high beams. can't remember though

Yeah I'm talking about the current from the low-beam wire going across the bridge into the highbeam wire and triggering the solenoid to raise the shield. A diode would stop that but I guess if you guys are doing it w/o the diode than I can live.

I used a diode just as he had shown in his wiring diagram as the 'bridge'. And yea its there to trigger the soleniod and keep the bulb lit i think. i really can't remember though. I definitely used one though. Those shrouds look pretty good. Good luck with ur build. I wish i had a dremel to cut up the shield. I used a small wood working hacksaw and a nice file to shape mine up.

Yeah... a diode is needed between the low beam and high beam wires otherwise like you said the 12v current will keep the shield open. I am in the processes of creating my harness as we speak. Does it matter which relay I get as long as it's a 5 prong? Just a 40amp relay, doesn't need to be high powered or anything does it?

If its 40 A then it should be good enough. I have a 40 A as well. I also got a nice nifty harness for it too so I can just plug and unplug as necessary.
