yea thats my buddy frank's company cavalierextreme.com, he is a great guy and is really helpful and has sold lots of kits, i do business with him all the time

Is it just me or was there no boost guage included with the kit? I don't even see a mention of one anywhere. My plan was (if I were to go with a turbo kit down the road) request the A-pillar from Chevy from the SS and install that in my LS and then modify the housing if I needed to to fit my boost guage for my turbo, but it seems this kit doesn't come with one.

As well, would installing a turbo kit (any stage) void the factory warranty even if done by a licensed GM shop?

Thanks,

i dont think it comes with one, and most likely yes it will void warranty

Looks like I'm going to have to make some tough decisions before I start soaking money into modding my LS. I had originally lined up some modifications which could have gained 100hp if not more which would also require rebuilding a number of components, but if all the modifications will void my warranty I'm no longer sure if they're worth it...

You may want to upgrade your rods and cyls to something that will handel the workload better.

I saw a Sweet rear turbo setup at the Bash that was done by Squires turbo. The turbo is mounted in near the muffler.

7 PSI and 200 WHP according to the owner.

i hear those arent as reliable or more of a pain or something, theres some reason that those kind of turbo set ups arent as good as normal ones, i just cant think of it now

the stock internals should be fine as long as the psi stays at the stock levels when raising the psi you need to strenghten the tranny and the internals like low comp pistons and sleeves and maybe some crower rods

installing a turbo kit will not void the warranty. the only time a warranty is voided is if it is discovered that the turbo kit was the cause of the problem. For example if you crack a rod and you try to bring it in to be fixed under warranty and they determine that an unproperly tuned turbo kit was the result then your warranty will become void.

Simply installing the kit does not do anything...

It will void the warranty on you engine... potentially drive train.. brakes... stuff associated with having more power...

If your headlights stop working... those are covered... your warranty is complex and is only void if you change something... and only that part and things very directly affected are void....

if you put a Turbo in your car it doesnt become COMPLETELY VOIDED WARRANTY... but dont go and ask them why you blew your motor

That's what I figured and is part of the reason I've been leaning towards the GMP S/C for the 2.2L whenever it hits the market. At least this part is sponsored by GM and covered by the warranty, and I would assume since it's tested and certified by GM there would be no complications if something were to happen.

I like the idea of having a turbo (love the noise it makes :-D) but don't want to take a chance of blowing something and all the repairs coming out of my pockets.

Thanks Chevy,

I'm pretty sure that if you up the boost on the supercharger kit and blow the engine they would take the same actions as they would with a turbo kit. Its almost the same thing...

Thank you for letting us know... I don't know if you've talked to him earlier or not, but I didn't see a fight or anything... It might have been better just to talk to him about it, than going public about it, if it could've been easily solved... Again I don't know the whole story but thanks anyways

That's true but I don't intend to up the boost unless GM starts releasing staged kits for the 2.2L S/C as well. I'm fairly new to modding, forced induction in particular, so I won't do anything I'm even the least bit unsure about and every change I make implications regarding my warranty are always in the back of my mind. At least if something went wrong after installing the GM S/C without any changes it would be a little harder to blame it on that part specifically and toss my warranty out the window :).

perma 17% tint? what were you thinking?

I think it depends on how you read it...it's not so bloody dark I can't see anything at all...it's still legal in Ontario (legal rating is 20% sides, 30% rear here I believe). I think they're meaning it blocks 17% of the light not only lets 17% in...I'd have to look into how exactly they rated it to be sure but I went through a ride program on Saturday and the OPP (equivalent of state troopers) never mentioned a thing and I haven't gotten bothered once about it.

I'll look at my form to see if it mentions how they rated it...I'm sure it's the 17% blocked not only 17% coming in . If I had a digi camera you'd see what I mean...I'm still working on getting pics when the car's clean.

5% tint is the only way to go!

If you mean 5% limo tint I have enough trouble seeing outta my car at night as it is with the 17%...with some of the limo tint I've seen on cars here I could more than likely run over a tree and not have any idea I'd hit anything until the branches came in through my sunroof .

Wait a minute...what the hell does this convo about tint have to do with turbochargers !
