To me it seems that the guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

But then again, what does he mean when he says "better"?

I have been in a rental 2.2 for the last 3 weeks.

Kills

Mazda 6
F150
V6 accord w/ the Triangle lights
04 Civic w/ Vtec
V6 Stang
and probably a few others I cant remember.

Losses

89 ZC Integra w/ all bolt ons.

Very impressive car, much faster then my 2.4 SE-R was.

I think the 2.4 Cobalt would be faster though.

Cant beat displacement

i agree, i would have gotten the ss na solely for the 4 wheel discs. if you look at times in the 1320, it seems almost to be a drivers race..... stock 2.2s are running mid-high 15s in some (rare) cases, and the 2.4s are mid 15s. with exhaust and intake and a decent driver, the 2.4 should be owned by a 2.2.

my gf will be dynoing her ss on the 21st, bone stock, a buddy of mine with G5 GT will be there too dynoing his car with intake, exhaust, 2.2's make about 125 130 ish at the wheels, i cant recall what a 2.4 makes, but more than that forsure, we will see wat a bone stock car does and a mildly modded one does.

Uhhh, my car stock is running a 15.20 -15.30 times. I haven't seen a stock 2.2L do that.

With an intake, it went to 15.05.

Im not sure about manuals but my friend has a 2.4 auto and my stock 2.2 auto was a little faster, im not sure why, now that i have some mods i can say for sure that its faster than his 2.4 stock. I bet the manuals are a different story. Very interesting

Maybe with a turbo the 2.2 will be faster then the 2.4.
The 2.4 is a better engine. Please feel free to learn for yourself:

Im gonna have to raise a bs flag on that. I find it extremely hard to believe that the 2.2 beat a 2.4, stock for stock. Either your friend was trying to make you feel special or he cant drive his car properly.

I drive a 2.4L Auto Cobalt SS Coupe and it is better than the 2.2. I know this because I raced one stock for stock @ the track. 3,200 ft. elevation and won. My best time of the night ( first 5 passes ever ) was a 16.5 @ 82 mph. Its not what you would see in the magazines, but It was sure a hell of a time!

I took my friends redline off the line got about half a car length on him and then I went deaf from the supercharger and he flew by me lol. I've drvien my moms 2.2auto and theres no comparision to me. Also I raced my friends cavy with the 2.2 ecotec+intake and exhaust and I beat him.
