anyone elses dealership like this?

i went to drop off an ss wing to be painted(flame me , i wont care! )
they originally quoted about 175 to be painted from black to my silver color. i dropped it off, and like 5 minutes later i get a call from them saying, "if you want to pay cash, we can do it without the paperwork and i'll just pay the painter and everything, and i'll lower the price to 150. and if the paint chips or something we'll still cover it"

is that a good deal?

Do you really trust them? I mean come on.....if there's no paperwork then how can you garuntee that those chips will be covered?

That's like a pimp selling you a hooker and going: "Don't worry if she gives you any STD's you'll still be able to have children AND we'll pay for all the medical bills"

haha. well, they've always been cool. i had my old cobalt in there a few times, once for repainting a few parts because my car was egged. another for me hydroplaning into a wall, which tey fixed and a while before that tey installed my vinyls on the car, and i told them about a motor mount that was cracked, which they had fixed for free. and i backed into a gate i didnt see, and they buffed out all the paint scuffs for free.

Get that **** in writing!!!

Dealer's dont want to cover stuff they are legally supposed to, you think they will cover your wing based on your story?

Pay the $175

Basically the service guys are trying to do some under-the-table work and eliminate the middle man (the dealership). If you trust them enough, go ahead and save the money. If you don't trust them too well, get it in writing. If you don't trust them at all, go with the original quote.

I'd get it in writing.

However i just started my internship for school at my dealership and you wouldnt believe all the free crap and highly discounted crap i can get. Not to mention we're nice and let a lot of warrant stuff slide, and even do warranty work without a warranty

Sounds to me like they send it out to another shop for paint, I'd just tell them you want a reciept from the painter if they're making it sound like they won't take a cut if you pay cash, rather than them taking $25 to process the transaction between you, them and the painter. That way, if you can get a reciept from the painter you'll have their warrenty if not the dealer's.

sounds like the dealers tryin to pay the painter under the table, which he cant do with paperwork....cant insure his work without proving you paid for it....sooo if you really trust him, go for it, but otherwise, theres nothing to make him keep his word

The paperwork doesn't cost $25, they are probably just trying to not write a repair order and have to personally be liable for the paint damages. They are probably just implying that if you have any problems then you can go directly through the painter to get fixes and stay out of their hair.

Black wing on a silver SS could look cool, you would need a black hood and roof too.
