BlueSSupercharged 07-14-2005, 01:23 AM Dose anyone know how the supercharger is lubbed? Is it lubbed by engine oil or dose it have its own lub?
Also dose anyone elses supercharger make a lot of noise at idle? Almost like a rattling noise on the inside of it?

It's self contained. No external oil is used to lubrication the blower.
phxSS 07-14-2005, 02:37 AM If your blower is rattling from the inside, there's probably something wrong with it. Mine is quiet and beautiful
BlueSSupercharged 07-14-2005, 08:05 PM if it has its own lub anyone think there would be any benefits by putting mobil 1 or royal purple lub in?
i didnt think the supercharger is supost to rattle like it dose but there are no ss sc around to compare to. Ill have to take a better look to make sure its the supercharger and not the engine.

I am not an expert but whether it is the blower or the engine "rattling" at idle, it can not be good. Take it to a dealer and spend some of that GM corporate cash to get it checked out.
oldbenwa 08-01-2005, 08:32 PM I just noticed today that my SC seems to be rattling as well. I have a door panel on the way, so I guess I'll have em look at it when I bring it in for that. Please let us know what comes of your rattle. TIA!

Edit: Just went and listened closer to mine, rattling is definitely coming from the SC. Maybe I'll bring it in tomorrow.
silverSS 08-01-2005, 08:48 PM during idle:
I hear the motor and just a tiny little whine that increases throughout the rpm band. its cool when your in a tunnel or somethin you can hear it whining lightly when not even on it.

The Rotors inside the Supercharger Housing are self lubricated bearings.
The lubrication for the Snout Housing is GM Supercharger Oil part number 12345982 (synthetic blend made for superchargers) and the housing holds 8 oz. total. GM Supercharger Oil comes in 4 oz. bottles only!
This is the only lubrication you should put in the Supercharger Snout Housing only! DO NOT under any circumstances use any engine synthetic oil in this housing, as it is not the same oil that is required for all Eaton Model 45, 62, 90, 112 Supercharger Units.
Remember, Heat is the superchargers worst enemy and you want to use the oil that is recommended from the manufacturer, not just hearsay from those who do not know any better! Hope this helps.
Modbug 08-03-2005, 01:46 PM Terry is correct as always.
Just address tghe noise issue. You may find that you have a rattling type sound usually when you first start the engine. This is caused by the EGR and will quiet as the engine warms. This noise is also more noticeable if you have a more open intake such as a Cold Air Induction. Now if you are experiencing this rattle at other times, there may be another cause, sometimes the coupler between the snout and rotor drive gears will get worn and have some free play to it, however with these beeing new vehicles, I would not expect to see a worn coupler just yet.
Just a couple possibilities, I hope this has been helpful. This information I have given is based on personal experience with a different model car, and M90 blower but the same basic principals apply.
Ljavy17 08-03-2005, 09:19 PM i truly think your rattling is coming from your exuahst. Many ppl are having this rattling problem and when it starts its hard to indentify where its coming from then youll notice that its coming from the resonator.
maxemus 04-05-2006, 09:34 PM I have a 99 regal gls not supercharged. Lately with rapid excelleration the engine emits a whine that is noticable? What could it be?

Could be power steering pump, transmission, those are always the first 2 that pop into my head.
But why are you asking that question in this thread?
Yeah it could be the exhaust. It does seem to "rattle" a little. Also, you may just be hearing the belts on the engine. They make a "clicking noise".

This isn't your thread. Try a google search for some buick forums, I'm sure you'll have better luck there. BTW your problem description is wayy to vague for anyone to know either way. good luck.

Nope, didn't break, the leather around the trim was lifting up.

FRIARPOP 04-14-2006, 03:51 PM if you take off the door panel there is a LITTLE STEEL CABLE that will attach to the handle for a more secure fit, it will still work without it but it sometimes comes loose, mine happened once so i hhad to open it up and fix it, takes about 1/2 hour.
