Q for the 2.4L Auto's that have gotten Tuned.

Is there a option to remove the 4k rpm limit when in park/neutral?

HP Tuners does allow you to modify those parameters. However, why would you want to exceed 4K RPM in idle? It's not a good idea at all.

That really sucks that Hahn wont do your car for free or at least let you make payments...anyway hp tuners should allow you to modify the tranny module in that way.

why wouldn't u. on the ss/sc there rev limiter is about 6000rpm. some other cars are even higher than that. my friends civic is like 7000rpm...but yeah HPtuners can change that as well as your speed limiter.

Well it kinda sucks when you're giving a little love to your engine, making your friends envy you, when suddenly your engine bogs like a bitch and sounds like ****.

There is no reason to spin an unloaded neutral engine that fast. You are just asking for trouble.

Oh Lordy! Way to show off to your friends. Nothing like throwing the auto in nuetral and revving it up, huh? Tell me, do you ever do nuetral drops? If you want to make your friends envious than show them the new sub you put in or make the car fast, don't punish your engine.

If I want someone to race I race them, I don't sit there and bang my car off the revlimiter. And I can say I have never freerevved at someone. I know how fast my car is and I don't need to rev for my friends to look cool. Take them for a ride, show them how fast your car is or how hard your system hits.

heh, i push my clutch and free rev at people all the time instead of using my horn.. it has a much greater effect on people illgelly crossing busy city streets.

horn = "please excuse me"

free rev = "IM GUNNA FUCKN RUN YOUR BITCH ASS OVER, RUN BITCH, RUN@#$!@#"

sorry, off topic.

I thought the same thing. I was so used to my older Accord not even having one. Grantid, I didn't rev it up to 8,000RPM, but the Cobalt revs to 4 so quickly that it seems like nothing happens. Like a few months back, I was next to a few kids that I graduated with next to me at a redlight. He got a newer Jetta 1.8T. He revved it up and you could hear the turbo. It sounded nice. So I do it, it sounds good, then poomp. It just stops. Even my monte can rev higher, and that's a V6 that there's no need to rev any higher than 4!

yeah with i love hearin my buddies do in on there ss/sc..the supercharger gets so loud and sounds so nice. if i was in my car next to that and he did it to me i would want to back away...revvin the car is fine. any engine can handle it. maybe to much of it..can do some damage...but now look it all the prostock cars. they line lock it and rev the **** out of the car.....engines are made to handle such a beating. the tranny on the other hand..maybe not...lol.but it would be nice to have that extra rev when lining up next to anotther car.

I don't believe I was the only one that asked why. I guess this would be the last thing I would think about trying to tune or adjust. Oh well, what do I know. You guys seem to have it all figured out.

I couldn't find anything in HPT under rev limiter area or in the trans area. I mean, I don't worry about it so I haven't looked for it before. Maybe you guys can find it.

I got nothing. And I can't find a spot to adjust it in HPT.

I guess they're affraid of some idiot reving it to 5-6 grand and then dropping it in gear and then demanding warranty repairs when their tranny explodes.

yes, HPT can remove this limiter, it can also remove the max speed in reverse. I have both of these done along with more firm line pressure in shifts and works great. the firmed shift jerks while shifting so it keeps the car going instead of pausing between shifts.

I have this done to my 2.4L SS. IIRC, it's a fuel cutoff for park/neutral... not a rev limiter. The guy to ask is DJT81185. He did it with HPT on my car. We also upped the shift pressure and speeds. There's a good bit we did to the TCM... and it resulted in at least a half second drop in the quarter mile. You can PM me if you want more info on everything we did.

What's the charge for that park/nautral cut-off fix? And everything else you mentioned too.

Dan (djt81185) could do this for you when he's back in town. He'd charge you for the credits in HPT at least ($100). As far as what he'd charge on top of that, I'm not sure. Maybe PM him and ask?
