Okay, I am just curious as to how much SS/SC springs lower LS's? I know it will handle better but I am just curious about ride height.

View Full Version : SS/SC springs on an LS? Stilgar 11-02-2006, 01:04 PM Okay, I am just curious as to how much SS/SC springs lower LS's? I know it will handle better but I am just curious about ride height. laserblue2006 11-02-2006, 05:13 PM maybe 1/2 inch to an inch at best. AKracer67 11-14-2006, 01:22 PM Do SS springs on an LS have any problems with the stock struts. and would they void the warranty on the stock struts? D4u2s0t 11-14-2006, 01:23 PM lowers about an inch or so... wdsoccer 11-14-2006, 01:32 PM I got a set of SS/SC springs that i am selling. $80 shipped. 06cobaltls 11-16-2006, 08:02 PM these are a good upgrade for the ls, i have just installed them and they lower the car over and inch, wdsoccer 11-16-2006, 08:05 PM still got the springs...PM me an offer..they are negotiable rally 11-16-2006, 08:06 PM If your looking to truely lower your car spend the 40 or 50 dollars more than you can usually get used SS springs for and buy new lowering springs. Chris_Leslie 04-13-2007, 03:50 PM AND void the warranty, i think not...lol YellowLT 04-13-2007, 03:51 PM Front an 1/2 back an inch cea2488 04-13-2007, 05:28 PM I'd like to see some pictures... I don't think it's really worth it. Stl06LS 04-14-2007, 11:52 PM I just installed SS/SC rear springs on my LS today. Initially 1/2" drop, hoping for a bit more once the suspension settles. I plan on installing the fronts tomorrow. Will update the drop in a few days when the suspension has fully settled. -Mike Red07SSNA 04-14-2007, 11:55 PM I did the same (rear FE5 springs only) on my 06 LS and it dropped my rear 1/2" too. I'm not going to install the front springs -- I just wanted the front and rear wheelwells to be "even". Stl06LS 04-15-2007, 08:51 PM I swapped the front springs today. Man, what an easy job on the fronts and rears. Red07SSNA 04-15-2007, 08:55 PM How much "drop" did you end up with? Stl06LS 04-15-2007, 09:05 PM I drove the car 40 miles today, and still 1/2" in the rear. Haven't driven with the front springs installed, but it looks like it's going to be 1/2" also. I don't know if it's just me, but 1/2" makes a difference in my eyes. Also, I'm running 25" high tires (225/45 17) which filll in some of the dead space in the wheel well. Red07SSNA 04-15-2007, 09:11 PM 1/2" does make a difference. Without changing the front springs my front and rear wheel well heights' are within a 1/2" of each other. I was tired of looking at the side of my LS and being reminded of an off-road vehicle with all that space above the rear wheel:lol: Plus I had to reposition the rear view mirror. It's minor but it made a big visual change! Stl06LS 04-15-2007, 11:49 PM I'd like to see some pictures... I don't think it's really worth it. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow or Tues. Stl06LS 04-20-2007, 03:59 PM OK, it's been about a week since my SS/SC spring install. I have driven the car ~100 miles and it's a pretty consistant 1/2" drop on all four corners. I was hoping for an inch drop, but the 1/2" does make a difference in appearance. The SS/SC springs do have a bit firmer ride, which I like. Also, took it in for an alignment, and needed a front TOE adjustment. So, even with as little as 1/2" drop, these cars do need an alignment. Red07SSNA 04-20-2007, 06:24 PM Thanks for the update:thumb: cpud 04-26-2007, 11:00 PM Just a quick question. With the new springs did you or will you replace the struts? Stl06LS 04-26-2007, 11:15 PM Nope, still running the stock struts. |
