GM Build book tells you when you take shit apart to mark the TDC before removing timing chain so you can put it back to normal timing before buttoning the system back up. Shows you in pictures how to put on and off. Did you mark your timing before taking apart?

all LSJ's have the same stock timing marker (most part) sooo... it comes down to him looking at a picture or setup.

i didnt post this lol i have a bit more detailed question

how to time the lsj

for referance

timing chain - 1 -2 -3 -4 thats how im going

the valvles currently in cylander 2 are slightyl open when the ramshaft is rotated the both pop out, i know this is incorrect i just put them both on the same cyalnder for referance purposes

if cylander 2 exhaust is slightly down then cylander 3 should be slightly down on intake?

then they should swap to 1-4 then 3-2 then 4-1 correct?

the motor has been completely reassembled, i just had to take the head back off to get this timing worked out dont worry nothing has been bolted down yet

diamond pistons require the stock cylander thingy inside the connecting rods and are a bitch to get the holders into the sides of it. Bear with me im running on no sleep so ill call things weird names

We ran into alot of problems the machine shop lost 2 bolts so i have to pick those up tommorrow

and also when u remove the oil shooters good luck putting them back in they dont go back in they just strip out

So i have left them out? is this a huge deal we had a 4 man debate on it and all pretty much are clueless as this is the first lsj we have worked

and i did mark them but the shit got washed off at the machine shop

Anybody know how to set the timing on a LSJ.

Go to the crateenginedepot website and save the 4 Part 300hp Ecotec how-to. Part 2 shows excellent pictures of the timing chain. This 4-part manual is about building a LSJ motor. Should really help as the performance book does not have detailed pictures.

I found it was easiest to save them to my computer and use adobe reader to open them once you save them. Good luck.
