do we really need these?
i removed mine to get the cylander bored out and a new sleeve put in, now they wont go back in
please lets not whore this thread this is a serious question 4 of us debated it and all were stumped even more amazed the lsj had them to start with

well someone enlighted me as to what they do other than squirt oil up into the bottom of a pison that already has a 1/10 an inch oil wiper ring that looks like a dam welsh waffle

The oil squirters squirt oil onto the bottom side of the pistons to keep them cool. They are definitly necessary, and you definitly need to reinstall them or else we could hear about another KABOOM after you fire the beast up. Get er' done and make them work. You may have a bur on the edge where the squirters go into, and you may have to clean it off.

Dont rip them out!! Put them back in. I would hate to see your new build go bad. Keep them pistons cool! Especially now with your higher compression.

You could leave them out, but then your pistons would get stupidly hot and you would only be able to run like 5 degrees of timing without getting knock. Up to you...

We are going even further and adding extra oilers to my engine so there is never a chance of oil not being every where all the time even under crazy acceleration.
