I would paint them as close to the colour of the car as possible. Red always looks good too.

Red always looks good, and goes with most colors that the Cobalt comes in.

I like the two-tone look. I did my mazda3 not to log ago.

With the cobalt I plan to remove the calipers completely and deber them and put a nice hi-temp gloss coat on them. Someone did that on the Mazda3 and it looked like glass. Overkill to some but not to me.

Personally, I would try to match the calipers with the color of the car. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the input...like i want them the color of the car but id think they would blend in to easilywith the car and nobody would see them if they were red they would look good too and that way they are more noticeable...i dont know what to do :(

I dont know what to tell you red is nice looking but everybody has red. Blue would look good.
I have a silver SS/SC and I'm going with a silver and black theme for the entire car.
What I sugest is getting a PS2 racing game (i know the cobalt isnt in any games) like Midnight Club Dub Edition and just try out different combos in the game. It allows you to look at all color rims, brakes kits, round effect lights,(if you want them) and even decals. I have been using the Lexus IS 300 the looks are close enough for me to imagine the rest. I have a real plan and a crazy riced out joke ride. :cssNET:

I have a red SS on the way and am planning on painting my calipers red also... i know its the same as the body color, but they just look better to me if they are red... then again red is just my favorite color... the color of performance. Do you just use engine paint or something on them? i don't want to use something cheap and get bad results. any suggestions?

i used the caliper kit from the hardware store it comes with a brush and brake dust cleaner, works like wonders to get into the grooves without over spray from spray cans and etc. i think dupli-color makes it if i remember right. painted mine yellow to match.

I bought the Caliper kit by Duplicolor from Discount Auto, i'm going to school and working all week so at night I plan on doing 1 rim each night lol, so i'll have pics up in a few days. I did my front one last night and it turned out awesome. It was like 15.98 I think and 1 kit will do all 4 calipers on the SS..o btw my SS is red, the red on red is def the right choice

I was thinking about doing the same thing since I really don't have time to do all the wheels all at once. Plus I'm going to try and do the airbox mod, so I'd kinda like to do one caliper while I have the wheel off for that. The question I have (for everybody who's used this kit) is do you really have to let the vehicle sit for 24 hours before driving it like it says on the kit?

That's the only thing that will determine whether I do them all at once or bit by bit, because I work and go to grad school at night so I really can't let it sit for a full 24 hours every time I paint a caliper. I could probably work out my days off here in a few weeks such that I could have a full day off from both work and class for it to sit if I did all 4 at once, but it would be impossible for me to paint one and wait the 24 hours each time I did one caliper.

as soon as i was done painting one wheel i put it back on and let it dry. and i let them all dry for a total of a hour, its all good then. paint doesnt need that much time to dry...

Awesome, that's what i was hoping for. I need to paint them in my garage because it's the only semi-flat place I have to jack the car up in order to take the wheels off but I don't want to let it sit in there while the paint's wet because it's FILTHY and there's spider webs everywhere that I don't really want getting into the paint. It'd be so much simpler if my driveway wasn't sloped!!!!! :p:

I looked around and haven't really seen answers on what black on black looks like.

I am tryin to decide between black red or blue

I was gonna post something about if you have laser blue, the dupi paint won't match, but seeing how this was started quite some time ago, I don't think you have laser blue. I wonder what he went with...

Anyways, I think red looks good no matter what color car you have. I love it on my laser blue. Really stands out.

Well if you REALLY want to be different....
You could go GOLD, just like a set of Brembos.... They look good on STI's and such done in blue...

I was thinking Gold on mine with a black car, but I might just wait. I put way too many miles on my car to be worrying about cosmetics like that right now. I need tires, and soon new brake pads most likely.
( Dealer's already put new rotors [under warranty] at all 4 corners, so I'm good there. )

Hi Folks -

I prefer the red, since they are more easily seen through the wheels when rotating.

Since the calipers do not get anywhere near as hot as the rotors, simple 500 degree header paint will work just fine.

I used the Dupli color header paint on one of my cars, and 20k miles later it still looks good -

Here is a link to how I did the job with spray paint -

Pick a theme to go with your car, (ex, mine has a black on red theme, so i painted my calipers red) So get a theme going and paint your calipers that color

(Your best bet should be blue or somethign similar)
