View Full Version : TEIN Suspension
CobaltSS313 07-19-2005, 02:38 PM I just got an email from TEIN suspension and they are located at 9798 Firestone Blvd. in
Downey, CA 90241 and here is their phone number (562)861-9161....they are developing a system for the cobalt but are looking for someone to bring an SS to their place so they can make a suspension system for it...just figure i'd let you guys know if anyone wants to take their's there :cssNET:
alleycat58 07-19-2005, 02:42 PM Man no one around here ever does stuff like that :P. Not that I'd trust just anyone with my car, though.
CobaltSS313 07-19-2005, 02:54 PM Yah i know what your talking about....it pisses me off...but at least we know it works by the time we get it...they're not screwing or blowing up my car on the prototype
alleycat58 07-19-2005, 02:55 PM my car aint blowing up on the prototype
My thoughts exactly!!!!!!!
selfinfliction 07-19-2005, 05:23 PM Yah i know what your talking about....it pisses me off...but at least we know it works by the time we get it...they're not screwing or blowing up my car on the prototype
i just talked to the guys, and they said the only thing you get on your test car is the original prototype suspension. they leave it installed. well that's pretty dumb IMO, they should atleast give the guy a production kit...
i wish whoever does it, with the experimental parts left on, the best of luck lol
Eddie 07-19-2005, 11:02 PM hopefully i'll be purchasing an ss in the next month or so, but my car will not come close to tein parking lot. I dispise tein. only place for suspension will be B+G suspension. only suspension setup that will go on my car. either that or H&R.
CobaltSS313 07-19-2005, 11:38 PM I thought TEIN was a good suspension system or did you just have a bad experience
Eddie 07-20-2005, 01:41 AM i've drivin numerious car's with tein, and i was not impressed what so ever. i've drivin, civic's integras is300, rx7's with tein suspension and didn't like n e of them. crappy, bouncy, didnt handle well. and besides any company that can't garauntee their springs froom sagging will not be on my car. only 2 companies garauntee it, thats B+G and H&R, eibach i think changed their stuff so they might be on their list. but i know a few years back they had a problem with sagging also, but i've heard they changed their method of developing springs. so i think their better. but the only 2 manufactures i'll by from are B+G suspension, which they desisn oem springs for european cars, as well as aftermarket, and H&R which are developed purely for performance.
selfinfliction 07-20-2005, 01:46 AM i put a set of h&r springs on my cougar, with a set of the cheapest struts i could find and i was amazed at how well those springs performed... it felt so good i didn't even put new sway bars on it
CobaltSS313 07-20-2005, 01:47 AM Well thanks for telling me that...you'd have to be a dumbass not to garauntee your product...thats just stupid
QuikFKR 07-20-2005, 04:22 PM We'll be really lucky if TEIN makes a susp for our rides, I have only heard amazing things about their setup. 22 way adjustable dampeners being the main reason for the good reviews.
They usually have a large range of adjustability as well.
I would buy it if they made it

Actually, the majority of H&R's work is in OEM applications. They are one of the oldest (if not oldest) coil spring makers for vehicles.
With a proper heat treat, no spring should sag. Is there a chance that you were actually seeing the effects of dying dampers?
Eddie 07-20-2005, 11:02 PM no new dampers were placed and only took a few months to notice the sag on the springs. if you go to tein's website they garauntee not to sag more than xxx amount. only a few milimeters but still thats enough to hinder performance and possibly cause suspension problems.
yeah I didnt know H&R made oem suspension setups, so that's 2 companies that make oem suspension companies for high end luxury cars. thats good. personally those are the only 2 companies that i would put on my car. B+G being first. :)
QuikFKR 07-21-2005, 01:21 PM Most aftermarket springs do sag a bit, I had H&R's on my Grand Am and after a summer of driving I measured a total drop of 2 inches. When it should have been only 1.6 inches.
No big deal though I didn't notice any difference in the ride, but I wasn't doing Auto-x or anything.
