Wheel hop and GM

Does anyone know if GM has any plans to address wheel hop, or have they done so already? I'm not sure what they would do, but I'd imagine they have to see the potential for selling us some parts to help with this.

I'm thinking about just getting something aftermarket, but would wait a while if GM was going to get involved.

In concerns to excessive wheel hop causing cracks in transmissons in 2008 GM is releasing stronger axles to take the force of the hop. However any wheel hop is looked at as abuse by GM.

Don't a lot of cars have wheel hop? Even some rear wheel drive ones? I don't think that Cobalts are the only cars that have this problem. I'm sure they knew about it when they developed the car also. Not saying it's right, but I think there's a little more to the question.

You beat me to it, but that is what I was getting at. Sometimes I think wheel hop is the result of incorrect driving. I've never heard in reviews of the car by magazines & such that wheel hop was a problem. It can be avoided w/ out supporting mods.

GM has released Preliminary Information (to the dealers) that specifically say Wheel Hop is caused by abuse and will not be covered by any warranty.

I have noticed wheel hop can be weather condition related. When the air is dry and warm I have good control over the wheel hop. On the other hand, when it is warm and humid I notice it being a little more hard to control. When it is wet and I have a lapse in control, it isn't often, I notice wheel hop is terrible. I agree with you that it can be controlled w/ out supporting mods but it means you are not getting the full potential out of the car. GM did a poor job of bracing this engine down, what's new. The motor/trans mounts are very similar to my 98 Neon R/T and that stinks! As far as GM addressing this through GMPP.

just fill your motor mounts with urethane, costs like $12 & works like a charm
