I'm not entirely sure how to use these products. I have no experience with them. But I know people have been looking for an MSD ignition product for the L61 Ecotec for some time. This looks like it might be it.

I have personally dyno tested the msd. Not on a cobalt but an Srt 4, and I can say is that it only gave 1 horsepower over the stock run. So honestly its not worth the money. I dont know if it will be diff for the cobalt, who knows. Maybe somebody will try it.

why though? unless your trying to make a retarded amount of horsepower our ignition set up is more than capable of igniting as much fuel as you could want. plus putting on an igniton system is not so much about making more horsepower as it is just trying to ignite a much higher amount of fuel either under heavy compression or under high boost. but if it uses multiple sparks to ignite the fuel it could do wonders for our air fuel and gas mileage

I think they're just a neat and tidy version of the combined components listed in this how to: http://www.livewirerodimus.com/Ecotec/msd.html Used mostly for timing changes for engine management.

Im the guy that wrote that btw^^^

Anyways you dont adjust timing on your msd box thats not what its for, the msd does help alot with gas mileage , power and a general smoothness through the rpms and at idle you just cant get with the stock ignition, this will only work with the 2002 - 2006 eco L61s as the 07 and later and all the 2.0/2.4 use the coil on plug which dont need an msd or really benefit

Also Id recommend getting msd coils for use with it the stock coils will run, but they dont last much more than 10-20k

Awesome write up. I didn't even know that cam sync generator existed until I saw your article.

At the top of the article you mentioned being able to make timing adjustments, thats why I assumed anyone upgrading to that system was doing it to pull timing.
