For those who had/have XM with new car...
I purchased my SS brand new, the dealership told me I had XM radio free for 3 months...well its been 7 months now and I still have it. Only catch is I havnt paid or given any payment info to anyone or even talked to XM for that matter. So whats the deal? Shouldnt it of become inactive by now?
i got a free 3 months when i got my SS/SC and it stayed on for about 5 months or so. I have just the sports channel, and a preview channel now. dont say anything and keep listining. Sirius is MUCH BETTER though.
Man, thats like playing Monopoly and getting the Chance card "Bank Error in your favor!" There loss, its not like they are "losing" anything ya know? Everyone's signal isn't weaker like when you splice a neighbor's cable line....

i too received 3 free months of xm when i purchased my TL. here is a way to pay $77/yr. normal price is over $120 i believe.
First... call and make sure they are not going to auto renew you and charge your credit card. Have your radio code and call the customer service number. Tell them you want to let it expire because it's too expensive at full rates.
Then, they might offer you the $77 deal. If so, skip the rest of these steps and take it. If not, hang up after making sure it will not auto renew.
After it cancels, then call in with the script about having gotten a flyer.
SCRIPT FOLLOWS:
Then call the 800-682-4114 number and read the script: "Hello. My subscription to XM Radio has expired but I just got a flyer with a special offer. I would like to take advantage of this offer for $77 for a year.
If they ask for the promotion code, say "zwinback". If they ask for the radio code, give that to them. They WILL ask for it because that's the only way they can turn it on. If you had, in fact, gotten a flyer, it would have your radio code printed on it so have it handy.

I have a co-worker who was trying to get me to switch to Sirius. He finally gave up and said if I called XM and threatened to switch, they would give me a year for $36! I told him I like it so much, I don't mind paying $30 (I have three) a month for it.

I was driving to my gf's house and i was minding my own bussines, jammin to the music and then it just went quiet and then to channel 1. I was like "oooooooooooooooook". I like my xm...i use the traffic stations on my way to and from work. I think there is a good variety on xm...i've never heard sirus so I cant speak for that.
sirus>xm...for sure......although xm wasnt too bad, i do like it cause you dont need a big box on your window and cords all over......right at 3 months i got cut off, they called me before hand to see if i wanted to renew and i said no.....i got sirus in my truck and love it.....when i get a new indash dvd for the cobalt then i will get sirus for it.....
XM worked for me for 11 months before they cancelled. They tried to bill me for the other months I said uh no, you didn't bill me and I didn't ask to renew. They were like oh... our mistake.
I renewed again but contemplating if I should renew when my extra 3 months are up.

They were strict with me. XM shut off to only half the channels exactly 3 months from my Cobalt purchase date. I thought I would get some kind of warning in the mail a least. I bought a 1 year sub along with another 1 year sub for a XM Roadie I've had for a couple years that my sister uses. Check out The ViRUS, XM channel 202 for some ***** and giggles.
