06 22.4 SS......wow

Hello all. I am using my fiance's 06 2.4 SS while my Impala is shopped. Holy crap this thing handles!!! I have driven other vehicles with more HP and torque but this cars handling capabilities are awesome. I have been tossing it around for a week now and boy am I impressed. I checked her window sticker and I did not see anything in regards to a special handling package. This car rides like this in stock form? wow. Have read on this forum that there is a G85 package avialable on these cars. What does this package consist of? All this hard driving and although I am a Goodyear user, the stock Pirellis have not complained one bit!

G85 is for the SS/SC, the 2.4 only has one suspension package. but yes, it does handle well.

there is an LSD unit that will fit our diffs. but, you're looking at about 1500 bucks, plus install.

ya the 2.4 btw doesnt come with recaros or a lsd. and ya the car is just sweet like that. ive checked and its not like the 2.4 has an extra handleing package. its probably like that because its the ss trim. cars really nice. if you got into a 2.2 lt or ls you would see a big difference.

have you ever been in a ss/supercharged cobalt? those are very great handling cars that go even faster

how do u figure theres sucha big difference betweeen the ss 2.4 and the 2.2 ?? where do u get ur info from...ive drove both the 2.4 ss and the 2.4 g5 gt...and the car handles exactly the same as the 2.2 G5 and the 2.2 cobalt...the only noticable difference...the tires that come stock...and the power from the motor...those are the only differences in handling and ride comfort..

If you think they handle good stock, you should try one with a koni/eibach combo

There is a different suspension pkg on the SS/2.4 and G5 GT... check the window sticker.

The 2.4 has a stiffer suspension than the base cars. Its very noticeable.

Heres some info from Chevrolet.com:

2.2 LS--LTZ = "Premium Ride"
2.4 SS = "Tuned Sport"
2.0 SS = "Performance Handling"

Take em side by side through a slolam (sp) and you'll see the difference

During normal driving yes i can very well see there being little to any noticable difference, but if you push them to the limits thats where you can see the difference.

I have to disagree 100%. The 2.2 suspension is much more floaty on rough roads. Old people would characterize the SS as "harsh"; the 2.2 not so.

i disagree... but i will say that most 2.4 owners run their tires under inflated, the 2.2s want 32 psi, where the 17inch on the 2.4 wants 35. that's a big diff, trust me.

The 2.2 and the 2.4 feel like totally different cars handling wise. IMO

I definitely agree with you on that one. My 2.2 seemed to ride more cushiony and my 2.4 I refer to as a "cement truck" since you can feel every little bump in the road. I actually like getting into my sister's 2.2 every once in awhile...lol

So far its been unanimous against you. Sooner or later someone will post some numbers; the swaybar diameters, spring rates, etc. Like it was mentioned earlier, there are 3 different suspensions in these cars - base, 2.4, and 2.0. Most people could tell the difference between the base and the other ones blindfolded.
