Saw an SS Sedan in Person Yesterday
Sorry, I never seem to have my camera handy for these things, but you guys have already seen pics of it.
I honestly think it looks WORSE in person than in the pics. The Sedan SS looks like a cheesy SS/SC wanna be ripoff. The exhaust seems to be the same old Sedan exhaust with the fancy tip rather than upgraded.
The wheels.. while they pretend to be like the SS/SC, are smaller, and have an odd chrome like shiny appearance. It's not chrome though or even painted chrome like the '04/'05 LS Sport Cavaliers, and they really look cheap and cheesy up close.
No leather seats.. they were cloth. Doors and bottom of dash were still beige. If I didn't see the sticker with my own eyes, I'd suspect a dealer rip package.
I am definitely not impressed. That car is NOT deserving of the SS badge at all. It's not in the same league as the SS/SC.
I hope the SS Coupe did not suffer from the same.

from the start there was always going to be 3, just not for 2005. GM couldnt get the 2.4L engine ready intime for the initial production in cobalts, so they are now ready for 2006. thats all. if GM had all 3 from the start there would be no confusion.
I do agree with the wheels though, they are a let down. i think painted 17" 5 spokes like on the mazda 3 would be the best. but they are 17's and they will work just fine.
the coupe 2.4 ss is much nicer looking than the sedan version.
all i have to say is: dont judge the car unless you sit in it and drive it.
p.s after i sat in the aveo, i have more respect for it; it is bigger than i thought.

On the ohter hand I am not crazy about the rims either---painted silver would have been better or at least a different style the the S/C SS 18's
yea, i seen one to. there is one at tasch automotive here in elkhorn wi, black...nothing to special, just rims and the badging. other than that i thought it looked like a normal cobalt, if no one posts pics in the next couple of days, i will go out there and take some 4 u guys..
Well the rims are polished, not chrome. Am I the only one that likes them? The last thing I would think is that they look cheap. People have complimented my rims everywhere i've gone and i've only had the car for 3 days (SS Coupe)
MarcS:
Bite your tongue! I wouldn't be that surprised if Chevy decided to offer an SS Aveo. It's one of the only vehicles in their lineup without one now.
ExHondaMan:
ha.. I doubt they'd stick the SS/SC engine in there. I bet they'd have a standard 2.2 as the SS engine! It's only got a 1.6L as it stands.
avro206:
The point isn't necessarily no leather. It's that there are no upgraded seats. It's just standard base model seats on an SS vehicle. That just really plays down the SS.
Tiller:
Does the SS coupe have the same wheels? I realized they weren't chrome. I didn't know what they were. They seem to try and have that chrome look.
The shine just comes off as odd and fake to me. But that's my opinion and arguable.
How is the SS coupe on my other points? Does it have beige doors or the beige underside on the dash?
Is it just the standard exhaust with a pretty tip thrown on?
Standard cloth seats?

Nightcrawler (cool name by the way):
The interior is the same layout as the SS/SC coupe. Everything is Ebony with all the silver accents. I don't know why they won't do an ebony sedan because it would look 10x better.
Cloth is standard for those that hate leather. I ordered the heated leather myself (exact same seats as the SS/SC).
The exhaust is a sport exaust like the SS/SC with the 3.5" tip. I'm unsure about the sedan's specs. The rear fascia has the mesh integrated.
I personally love the wheels, maybe they look awkward on the sedan. I posted a few pics but here they are again.
I'll upload more when my camera decides to stop pissing me off.

Thanks for the info. It sounds better than the Sedan. It certainly LOOKS great from the pictures. I'll have to see on in person one of these days. I still wish for my own resale value there was only one SS marked Cobalt coupe.
Cars looks awesome... I love black (mines black too.. SS/SC though) ..
Im anxious to see how the aftermarket does for the 2.4L.. Im sure it will be awesome.. Have a feeling there will be plenty of non SCs out there that will blow the doors off a SS/SC in a couple of years...

BAD NEWS!!!! Not exactly what I wanted to hear. I just ordered one 2 weeks ago.
I oredered a 2.4L SS coupe in victory red, i love everything about it. you s/c owners wanted one thing, we want another. i like the cloth seats and the polished aluminum wheels. after shopping around i picked the 2.4. i'm loving the looks myself...
It's not that us 2.0 guys hate the 2.4, it's just that they should have called it something else. It cheapens the badge and brings down the value of the 2.0..I think the general public will be confused, and I'm sure more than a few that want the blown version will be tricked into getting the 2.4 instead.

its funny they are complaining about the SS 2.4 not having leather
when they are complaining that the leather is getting messed up over a short period of time
i know id rather have the lower trim package of all the SS's with cloth as standard , and leather as optional
i live in phoenix , and 110-120 degree outside temps , and near 200 inside car temps , leather is gonna suck ass cause its so hot
the 17" wheels are polished , and even if i bouht a ss/sc i would have taken the 18's off for lighter 17" wheels , better performance and tire options from the 17's plus more side wall to protect the rims , just ask tedro he hit a pot hole , and ruined 1 of his rims
id would change the tires on the 17's though , the 205/50/17 look very low rider the way the side walls are streched , a 225/45 or 245/40 would look alot better
ive driven both the ss/sc and ss 2.4 , loved both but i was happier driving the ss 2.4 , what ever the major difference is in the suspension besides the front sway bar being bigger on the ss/sc , the ss 2.4 felt better to me , but both ride alot better than my cav
and im not saying the ss/sc rides bad , but it is different , and that difference made me happier in the ss 2.4

I'll just say this... if anyone gets tricked into buying an SS non s/c... they are an idiot for not even paying attention. a supercharger is kinda obvious under the hood and so is the "supercharged" tag right under the ss logo. i love the ss s/c, don't get me wrong, it just wasn't practical or economical for me. therefore the 2.4L ss is perfect for me. if i want to mod it later, i can but for now its sporty and fun, and definately better than base.

. If I had listened to one of the salesmean at the dealership I went to I woulda thought my LS was running 175hp but since I took my time and looked into the car I knew this was complete and total crap.Permafried-
