Um Dual Exhaust? Yes, No?

I just got home from snowboarding and on the way home i saw this completly blacked out SRT4 on the highway. This thing looked pretty sick. Eyelids on the front and on the tailight. New Inter cooler so im assuming possible turbo upgrade. Gauges Galore and a really nice sounding exhaust.

Ive always wondered what the hell makes SRT4s little 4cylinder engines sound soo good with those exhausts. I personally love them. Sound way more like a v8 then anything. Can someone please tell what it is that makes them sound so good and backfire and ****?

I also wanted to know about dual for the cobalt...I seriously would probably neer get it but just curious. Do they make true dual exhaust for the cobalt? No just and exhaust that splits at the end to make it look dual. Theres a couple cobalts with dual andi think as long as you get the right bumper, its looks pretty nice. Kinda ricer but who knows. Anyone answer any of my questions that be nice. I love to have a cobalt that sounds as nice an SRT but also wouldnt do it just for that reason. If i really wanted one i would have bought one

Sorry, dual exhaust on a 4cyl = gay!

Get a turbo and an open, muflerless exhaust like the srt-4 has if you want a similar sound.

I like the symetrical look of dual exhaust but its not needed and it will just add weight

pretty sure they have cats stock. The STI sounds that way because of the Boxer engine. Srt4's dont have mufflers + turbo gives them their sound.

yea but you also cant just be driving down the street and notice someone is missing there cats. The reason is because you wont pass inspection.

the sound is from the turbo being in the exhaust loop....... to get this sound with a SC or NAget a wide resonator, i could help u guys out, dual outlets on an exhaust will help alittle too.... not alot but alittle because u will have 2 outlets makign 1 lower toned sound than 1 higher pitched..... the airflow will have a choice of where to go equalizing pressure alittle..... let me demonsstrate....

my low ass idle
http://media.putfile.com/exhaust-idle-40

short rev then rev to around 3k
http://media.putfile.com/exhaust-rev-54

the rev sounds like i revved it up to about 300 rpm rather than 3000 rpm but trust me its just that low of a tone, and the tone is only lower when under a load

yeah most cops dont care but he does get a lot of looks from them... when it comes to inspection time he just replace the down pipe with on that has a cat. He has more money then god so its not a big deal to him.

sti also has uneven headers except the newer ones.... notice the diff betweenan older sti with a new like 07 wth equal length headers, looses that choppy deep sound

little confusing reading some of these posts. it almost sounded like cadet was implying that STi's dont have cats stock. they have to have cats to be sold legally here in the U.S. also flowmasters are not straight through
