as seeing a lot of guys are blowing piston 4, and there's alot of speculation that the fuel rail is causing it. i was wondering if anyone has gone with an aftermarket one like aem? can it be done yet? any love from the vendors on this part would be awesome. probably eliminate some of the lean problems guys are having too.

what do you guys think?

or what about modifying one of the existing aftermarket fuel rails to fit our cars? if so who else besides aem makes fuel rails?

The people that are burning pistons, I highly doubt it's cause of the fuel rail but more on their tuning method. Remember, the people are doing this are not even pushing pass 300 whp. These are people who are detonating cause of bad a/f ratios, I think it's just consequentley #4 that goes by some wierd occurance.

The ECOTEC stock fuel systems are perfectly fine.

Or detonation from running outside the blowers efficacy range without addition cooling methods...

Or it could be cylinder #4 gnomes.

I wonder hoenstly if there isnt a natural hot spot on cylinder 4. Like The cooling system around 4 is lacking in a certain area causeing a hot spot.

maybe,,, but I have seen a few motors blow and they have all been cylinder 4... odd

there's gotta be a reason why it's always #4. i wonder if gm has recognized this yet?

^^^^hey we can hope right? anyhow i was looking at my fuel rail today and i thing it would be pretty easy to modify an aem rail, just need a drill press and a large thread tap.

It could be a cooling issue. The SC Cobra's loose cylinders #7 and #8 due to poor coolant flow to those cylinders.

i hope not cause the fuel rail is a much easier fix

I doubt it, but figured I would throw it out there since it is a possibility.
