I always thought they were a nice car overall. They should have done them in awd LSJ versions though. I think they would have sold better, and from what I hear, GM is canning the Maxx line all together because they didnt sell well.

Yea, I really like the bodykit they put on the Malibu SS. Now all Chevy has to do is put in a transmission that's NOT horribly outdated. A 4-speed in this day and age, with the other sport sedans on the market in the same price range? Ain't gonna cut it.

they stopped making the maxx btw. and are coming out w/ a new body style already next year. this is gm's idea of keeping ppl interested in cars by changing the body styles of the cars they produce every few years. wonder what is in store for the cobalts.

Correct. Too bad, too. They weren't ugly or anything.

lol, my mother drives a black on black maxx SS. i like the car.

as far as the four speed being outdated, GM four speed autos are probably the most reliable front drive auto matic on earth, give it some respect, there is a reason it's still used. plus, you really don't need more gears than that if you have enough torque. i hate when people think that more gears = more better.

Then again, something can still be outdated while being reliable. Why do you think GM is working to put a six-speed auto in their cars in the near future? Believe me, GM is gonna win anyone back with four-speeds while import companies, and even Ford, are using six-speeds.

my only point is, that a LOT of the newer trannys couldn't handle the torque of bigger engines. GM never really got enough credit, in my mind, for how long lasting their drivelines tend to be.

i'd rather see a faster 4th gear for a few more MPG than more gears.

I think that version of the malibu is a pathetic excuse of a car to be putting an SS badge on. GM is getting too lazy on which vehicles it decides to toss the badge on and it blows. SS 4 door, non super and malibu maxx .. I mean come on ..

had a Malibu as a loaner.... not a bad car, good fit and finish, decent acceleration and handling wasent bad (real performance tires would have helped). I could own one if the price was right. The SS has to even better than the loaner I had.
