BullDog71ss 12-17-2006, 02:48 PM I always thought they were a nice car overall. They should have done them in awd LSJ versions though. I think they would have sold better, and from what I hear, GM is canning the Maxx line all together because they didnt sell well.
joedashow 12-17-2006, 02:50 PM Yea, I really like the bodykit they put on the Malibu SS. Now all Chevy has to do is put in a transmission that's NOT horribly outdated. A 4-speed in this day and age, with the other sport sedans on the market in the same price range? Ain't gonna cut it.

ya im at work now.. and i was walking the lot lookin' for somthing to do, and i saw this lone, black, max SS, that was pretty dirty, i started cleaning it and then i saw on the delivery slip that we have had it almost a year :thumbsdow
SUKXOST 12-17-2006, 02:50 PM dont like em at all....looks far too practical than sporty
Mstumpy06 12-17-2006, 02:50 PM they stopped making the maxx btw. and are coming out w/ a new body style already next year. this is gm's idea of keeping ppl interested in cars by changing the body styles of the cars they produce every few years. wonder what is in store for the cobalts.

Correct. Too bad, too. They weren't ugly or anything.
omgshesaboy 12-17-2006, 02:52 PM the cobalt in the pix is mine BTW

man ifu lived in the lower mainland i would definatly have went to see that car..i love the look of the malibu maxx ...ima big fan of wagons...
joeworkstoohard 12-17-2006, 03:06 PM lol, my mother drives a black on black maxx SS. i like the car.
as far as the four speed being outdated, GM four speed autos are probably the most reliable front drive auto matic on earth, give it some respect, there is a reason it's still used. plus, you really don't need more gears than that if you have enough torque. i hate when people think that more gears = more better.

Then again, something can still be outdated while being reliable. Why do you think GM is working to put a six-speed auto in their cars in the near future? Believe me, GM is gonna win anyone back with four-speeds while import companies, and even Ford, are using six-speeds.

my only point is, that a LOT of the newer trannys couldn't handle the torque of bigger engines. GM never really got enough credit, in my mind, for how long lasting their drivelines tend to be.
i'd rather see a faster 4th gear for a few more MPG than more gears.
LowridaH 12-17-2006, 04:23 PM I think that version of the malibu is a pathetic excuse of a car to be putting an SS badge on. GM is getting too lazy on which vehicles it decides to toss the badge on and it blows. SS 4 door, non super and malibu maxx .. I mean come on ..
07SSCharged248 12-18-2006, 09:57 AM I love the Maxx SS. i was considering gettin one for the winters
plyboy-illest 12-18-2006, 10:21 AM i dont think it looks that bad ..

why does everyone complain about that
suburbanrobot 12-18-2006, 12:42 PM had a Malibu as a loaner.... not a bad car, good fit and finish, decent acceleration and handling wasent bad (real performance tires would have helped). I could own one if the price was right. The SS has to even better than the loaner I had.:twothumbs
kingg5 12-18-2006, 12:44 PM why does everyone complain about that

omgshesaboy 12-18-2006, 02:05 PM I woulnd't drive that car if I won it in a raffle.
why is that
4drssmikekc 12-18-2006, 02:07 PM to all who dog the malibu & malibu maxx, I have one (maxx) and it kicks ass. Has good power and handling. The malibu maxx has more usable room than anything its size, If you have a family then you know how important it is. I even almost traded it in for a newer one. I have looked at the ss and love it, havent driven one but knowing the power of the 3.4 in mine I can only image how much more with the 3.9. People need to shed this thought that if it has 4 doors it cant be fast or handle well, I mean BMW and Mercades has had performance sedans for decades. You see american car makers doing it cause they sell. Not every dad or mom can drive a coupe.
omgshesaboy 12-18-2006, 02:08 PM i think its got somthing like 260 HP or somthing..
unclesid 12-18-2006, 02:15 PM looks wise
my a$$>malibu maxx
just my opinoin tho

HAHAHA THATS AWESOME

I like your car.... I think the MALI's are underrated! excellent handling for an american 4 door and much better than a Ford 500...
although I would prefer the SS version if i had to have one
RaineMan 12-20-2006, 11:45 AM I considered a Maxx SS... my dealer had a black one in the showroom that looked really nice. Though the performance numbers aren't on a par with the SS/SC... that thing looks good and has plenty of cargo room.
Though if I were really gonna get a wagon it'd have to be a Hemi Magnum...
alleycat58 12-20-2006, 11:57 AM I always thought they were a nice car overall. They should have done them in awd LSJ versions though. I think they would have sold better, and from what I hear, GM is canning the Maxx line all together because they didnt sell well.
COMPLETELY impractical though. That engine has 240hp/241tq....why on earth would you put an engine with 35 less hp, 41 less tq in a car that weighs 800lbs more than a Cobalt?! Add in the extra driveline loss from AWD and they'd be slower than the base-level Maxx's...
Mercury 12-20-2006, 11:57 AM Does anybody know if they have a good aftermarket?
It would be awesome to have a 13 second malibu ss!
G5GT2007 12-20-2006, 12:01 PM we own a malibu maxx. and its a really nice car chevy never put the car on tv or anything so no one really new about it. cobalt looks nice also! they look good together
RaineMan 12-20-2006, 12:11 PM I don't believe that there is a big aftermarket for the 3.9L V6... if any at all... with the G6 GTP going to the new 3.6L with even more power...
That's the one thing that really drew me away from the G6 GTP and over to the SS/SC... lack of support...
