nope, don't have an MSD DIS 2 to do so...

Zex recommends 4 degrees of timing retard for a 75 shot but it runs fine as is for now...

if we had HP Tuners available even more would be possible but oh well

yeah and with the purge, running the line there looks kinda ugly but it shoots right out of the middle of the hood which is fun to use for showing off...I haven't found much use for it other than that yet

No offense but if you don't retard your timing you won't have pistons for very long. My friend had the same exact setup on his 2.2 ecotec cavalier and it broke the tops off the pistons due to pre detionation. It looks sweet! Its a pretty thin little mist but DAMN its cold and POWERFUL! It blows your hand back!

 

I'm not worried about it as there are more than enough 2.2's with the same setup I have and no problems. There are other factors besides timing that can cause detonation and if he lost his pistons it could have been from a number of things.

oh and yes I'll try to grab a vid sometime soon, my digi cam doesn't record sound though.

I also picked up a new bottle heater since these pics and I'll get a video of me purging as soon as I get the bottle heater working. Even though I'm **** about purging now since I've learned I can blow through a full bottle in one night.

 

I bet you could blow through a bottle in a night. I like it. nice install. but how about the performance? have you stunned many? I think I know the answer but I like hearing about it. It is like reading a good book (except I dont like reading books)

 

performance? its like driving a completely different car, its so addicting. As soon as I hit that 3K window the RPMS jump up so fast and its gone.

I've only got to spray on people one night since I've had it running but I was spraying on anything that came close to me. The fastest car I've ran on the spray so far was an Sentra SE-R Spec V, I only beat him by about a car and a half but that was only on 600psi bottle pressure. The rest of the cars I absolutely murdered, I ran a Lancer ES, some early 90's Honda Accord, early 90's Camaro, early 90's Honda Civic, and then that Spec V. When racing those other cars, I've never seen cars drop back into the distance so fast. I ate all of those cars by bus lengths and I was laughing my ass off because I've never beaten a car so bad before. It was fun as hell...I can only imagine what they are thinking especially when they see the plate speeding off.

the black Civic that I ran was apparently a big **** talker who said that he runs 13s on nitrous and slicks and he beat this Stage 2 SS/SC that we were with. So one of my friends in an SS sedan said I should run him, at that point I had been speeding around all night and I could feel the spray wearing off. But I raced him anyway in 3rd gear from about 50 and tore him a new *******. I purposely waited for him to catch up to see his reaction and he didn't even look at me, he just shook his head and turned off into a parking lot.

Caught up to him a few min. later and gave him a nice purge and he says "oh yeah I could hear it as soon as you shifted"...I just smile and drive away. Then apparently he tells my friend in the SS sedan that I'm running a 100 shot of nitrous, lol. I didn't tell him a single thing about what I had...

yeah that pretty much sealed the deal for having nitrous in a ion sedan...I'm hoping to move up though to some quicker cars once I get this bottle pressure up to 1000psi I'll be spraying a real 75 shot.

 

Your Ion 2 is by far my favorite.

I actually do have a purge video that I took last night but you can't really see anything. You can only hear it...

I think I made a mistake clamping down the top of the purge line, it shoots higher but you can't see **** unless I waste alot of damn nitrous.

I'll try to make another one today possibly...

ive got about 100lbs of spray through my SS and no problems, plugs are nice and golden brown, and i have no tuning on a 75 shot, even if the motor pops in your ion that motor is a dime a dozen you can just go pick up another one for a few hundred bucks.

 

Sooooo many people dont understand nitrous

The Zex kit is a very nice set up , as long the fuel is jetted right he is gonna be just fine , even with stock timing .
