View Full Version : JBP Performance Crate Engines
Ladies and Gents;
We're proud to present in the New Year our crate engine kits!
Basically, these are blocks prepared and ready to go for those who demand a high quality, professional ECOTEC block.
Our crate engines go from Mild to Wild and are priced to move. Currently Mild kits are listed for all american ECOTEC engines: L61, LSJ and the LE5. The wild kits are soon to arrive!
The nice thing about these crate engines are that they are short-blocks. Thereby, allowing the customer to build their head they way they want it. (Either themselves, or using our cylinder head kits).
Customers who want the whole deal, (with a complete built JBP engine w/Cylinder Head), please contact us for details.

HackAbuse 12-26-2006, 02:52 PM Damn, those are some HOT prices
victory_red_SS 12-26-2006, 02:52 PM Thanks Mev, now I will need to figure out how to tell the wife that I want to pay for a spare engine so I am prepared for everything.:lol::lol::lol::lol:
StinkBOMB 12-26-2006, 02:56 PM You could always promise her something she wants. For example I have to now get a curtain climber, in exchange I got the STi. Perhaps the Mrs would fancy new ear rings?
Asphalt Assault 12-26-2006, 03:11 PM So in that price for Part Details JP0916 does it come with the head? in this thread there is talk of a long block but it does not say that in the website and that is why I have this question. thanks

good point, they're actually short-blocks. Let me edit that.

lol... seeing as you are paving the way for the Wild Crate Engines, they're definately going to be priced differently.
That Cobalt LT Guy 12-26-2006, 03:22 PM How much boost and HP can your l61 crate motors handle.

We rated our Mild crate engines to handle 20#'s tuned and HP wise they are safe for 300WHP.
(Thats not saying thats the limit, but thats the safe area.)
For those wanting more power holding capability, look out for our Wild Crate Engines. They are definatley going to be a force to be reckoned with, capable of 30#'s and over 750HP. (sounds so familar...)
That Cobalt LT Guy 12-26-2006, 03:44 PM I want 750 hp:lol: but I didnt see any wild motors on your site what will they cost ?

OVER 750HP exceeds my wishs but another 250HP on top of 500HP is nice. I will be waiting to see pricing and details on the 750 Build. Where do you get the motors? is there a core charge?
06blackg85ss 12-26-2006, 04:08 PM I just happen to have a complete LSJ motor lying around extra.... hmm what to do what to do

the Wild crate engines are not for purchase just yet, no pricing either.

You know as well as I do, what to do.

At this point in time, there is only one core. We don't work on a core charge system, rather a core swap system. When your engine is near completion, we will request reception of your core engine. Upon receipt, we will then ship out your new Crate Engine. This is the best method in ensuring a healthy core is received and eliminates a core charge to the customer.

Give it to meeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!:cool::cool::cool::cool:

What info would you like to know specifically?
crossed over 12-27-2006, 03:16 PM is this a drop and play replacement motor? or do i need additional parts to run this application. i have my twincharge kit that will be going in this spring but i figure itll cost almost as much to rebuild my motor as it would to do this.. im not very car literate so no please dont flame lol. i just wanna run my setup safely!!
This is just the short-block. (ie: it's missing the cylinder head) If you want us to build you a complete engine, drop us a line. We can price you out a complete engine, ready to drop in.
crossed over 12-28-2006, 01:49 AM assuming i go all out and get the cylinder head kit with it its a completely different motor were talking here right? its not a rebuild of my motor is it? id like to have a spare engine thats why im asking.

I'm pretty sure you want to give it to me
HackAbuse 12-28-2006, 01:53 AM So i can be the first Automatic LSJ powered Cobalt.
Ultimate Sleeper Sedan FTW!
Scythe_Snake 12-28-2006, 02:19 AM I'd actually like to know more about the Mild and Wild setups too. Because if so I'll send my SC to and my engine to JBP first to get all that taken care of before I start with the bolt ons and the like.

If you click on the link in the first post of this thread, you will see all the details regarding the Mild Crate Engine.
The Wild Crate engines are still being developed... nothing on them at this moment.
JBPs' been doing Crate Engines for over 10 years now, starting with the V6 engines, LQ1, etc... all the Cavalier engines, LN2, LD9, etc and now the ECOTEC line of engines... Now, with Greg Mohos on the engine design team, we can say we've got 30+years experience. :ca:

No, you don't get to keep your engine. This engine is done with a core swap. We give you a new refreshed engine and we need yours back for the next customer. The price of these engines are astronomical right now, also, they are in limited supply. So unless you want to pay through the nose to buy the core outright brand new, we'll need your engine back.
crossed over 12-28-2006, 01:20 PM dam i feel so stupid now, i thought this was for a complete engine, i didnt know we had to trade ours up for it.. i was thinking i would have two engines, one to play with and another to return it to stock.. sorry if i wasted your time man i just got a little over excited i guess!
Lol. Don't feel stupid, I'm sure you asked a question that was on other ppls minds as well. The more information that gets put out, the less we have to explain.
crossed over 12-28-2006, 04:01 PM you guys definately seem to have quality work though, well see what i need for this spring to get my twincharge kit on properly.. basically whoever will be able to do good work at a good price will win me over in the end... but the shopping around has to start now because it will be a long process!
glockglade 12-28-2006, 04:06 PM how much hp can your mild lsj handle?
Asphalt Assault 12-28-2006, 09:36 PM how much hp can your mild lsj handle?
300~350whp.
So that equates to about 411HP at the crank with 15% loss from Drive train. is that accurate? Is drivetrain more or less than 15%, really?
I believe your conservative so lets say I tune for 350 on the street-daily driver. Could I reasonably crank out 500HP for the strip on a weekend?
glockglade 12-28-2006, 10:00 PM 300~350whp.
thats rediculous doesn't the gm build book say that with just a piston swap this thing can handle like 400 hp?

Well yes but your missing the point of reference that JBP is quoting. WHP is the Wheel Horse Power not Just HP which is measured at the crankshaft. You may have known that and just missed that little bit of info. See my post #29 for the conversion.

kudos to ssnipes!
500HP... :nono: I do not recommend our Mild Crate for this type of power level at all.
