Um, okay...

There is nothing behind that mic but empty headliner space. Do you have a sunroof? Check the gasket.

First, get the dealer to fix it under warranty. I always say that first now...

Then, I made a how-to on fixing the sunroof switch trim that shows how to drop the headliner and see the back of the onstar mic. Take a look at it for the pictures concerning removing the sunroof trim.

That would be the only place I can think of where water would be getting to the back side of the mic. Look for water damage on the edge of the headliner.

Check this bulletin out, more than likely what you're talking about.

I had the exact same problem that you have. What is happening is the water is finding its way over to some wire or something like that on the drivers side of the sunroof. The water follows it to the sunroof motor which is right by the microphone and then it drips by the shifter. What they did for me was they adjusted the sunroof and they also added a sealant on the wires or whatever the thing is so that the water couldn't get down in there. Like the person above me said check out the bulliten sent out by gm. It is posted on another thread in here involve leaking sunroofs. All the bulliten says is how to properly adjust the sunroof. Good luck to you.

I had this problem in the fall. It let in quite enough of water, enough that there was a shallow puddle right beneath my e brake. Dealer said the "drainage lines" were clogged. Didn't make sense to me since if the drains clogged once, wouldn't they ultimately clog again? They fixed it and the problem has not reoccured since so I never followed up ont he "drainage lines."

I bet that your drainage lines were not plugged. Hell you car is only a year old if that. When you get work done on your car you should have them explain to you exactly what they did.
