It seems there is a lot of people who have the stage 2 GM tune however there is also a lot of misconceptions about this tune and what it truly affects. I put together a very simple comparison to help highlight those issues.

The files used in this comparison are
1. My stock 2006 SS/SC
2. 2006 Stage 2 tune, Downloaded from HPT file repository. This is assumed to be the GM Stage 2 File.

I’ll go section by section and will only show the data that has changed.

Engine>Airflow>General Airflow

No Changes

VE and MAF calibration are untouched. The engines volumetric efficiency was not changed and the MAF sensor itself was not changed, thus being the reason for no changes.

This is important; you should not need to change your MAF tune if you increase power unless you change your MAF. Any changes to the maf tune are ‘tricking’ the computer into doing something that it otherwise shouldn’t do. This is why there are the aftermarket MAF adjusters.. I would stay away from them. Some tweaking can be done to optimize the MAF to your specific vehicle, however, changes should be very minor.

As seen below, this is the stock VE table, it’s a little rough but should work fine.

Injector Control
“Offset vs. Volts vs. VAC”
Only changes are below 10.5 battery volts.. I left out the images because you would not harm anything if your vehicle is operating correctly and kept the stock table.

“Flowrate vs. KPA”
This table is the important one for new injectors. When you change injector sizes you MUST change this table.

Engine>Fuel Control>Fuel Cutoff

This is the increased RPM limit given in stage 2. All buttons shown in green are changed. In the stock tune every value is 6500 and Stage 2 is 7000

Engine>Torque Management>Supercharger

Max Boost %
This is a comparison of boost vs rpm, the Stage 2 Tune increases it by this amount to ‘200’ across the board in both windows.

This elimiates the need to bypass the boost controller by pulling the vaccum hose off. Now it will never drop boost due to RPM
