Ok lets go back in time, I was having problem with my ABS lights coming on for no reason, Well i took it to my dealership and they said "There is no problem we cannot recreate it". So I took my car back and just deal with the light, Well today i was driving down the road and then BOOM the whole rearend locked up as if someone pulled the handbreak and spun me into a ditch, well I got it out of the dealership but i had no powersteering and all of my guages we off all read 0 but the car was still running. Well i go to the dealership no stops and i tell my service adviser that iam fed up with this car they just got it out of the shop he said whats wrong well he came over there and every light on my dash was blinking at a different rate looked like a disco show. He tell me to turn it off and they will write it up so i do so well when i do a car come behind me and mike tells me to pull it up to the shop door, and low and behold the car will not crank at all. So now its sitting at the dealership and they have replaced the PCM and last time i saw it the whole motor was out of it . Any ideal on what could be wrong?

I have no idea man good luck but as I have been on this forum for about a month now i am getting more scared of the day my cobalt actually gets here. How many of these cars are lemons? I ordered mine and should be done in two weeks.

 

Sounds like a computer problem. That's what my ABS light coming on for no reason was. That was also what made my lights go crazy (wasn't there for it, but that's what the guy said). The ABS was a PCM reflash, the disco lights meant the BCM was bad and the car would not crank either. I'd say you need a new BCM myself...

 

Myself and a great number of people I know have not had problems. I think it's all in how you treat it.

cars been in the shop for 1 week, and to top it off
they dont know what the problem is. GRR

Lemon law, if they cant fix it they have to give you a new car. If you go in for the same thing for then 3 times, they have to give you a new car.

Anyway, definitely an ECM problem. It controls the power steering and instrument cluster, not to mention your starter.

They pulled the engine out? Why?

For every one problem you hear of on this site... there are atleast 10 people with no problems.

I've had my SS/SC since July and haven't had a single problem with the vehicle. The only time it's ever been in the shop was b/c I was rear ended... and even that only messed up the exhaust and back bumper. No problems with the engine, brakes, cruise, radio, or anything else.

 

they said they replaced the PCM and BCM along with most of the sensors.

 

did they say if that fixed the problem?

How many people come online to say "MY CAR IS PROBLEM FREE AND I LOVE IT!!!!" as opposed to "My car has such and such issues, any ideas before I take it to the dealer?"

Its the same fundamental idea with everything else in life. If something sucks or you have a problem with it, you tell everyone you know. If something is good, generally you dont tell the world.

Don't be worried. You'll love your Cobalt.

 

oh i love my cobalt but it seems as if every cobalt that hits tuscaloosa is fobared. My friend has a blue one and this is his 3rd one ( he lemoned the other 2). At the dealership i meet this girl and she is having the same problem mine has.
No this has not fixed the car tat is just what they said.

 

Sounds like you need to find a dealership that understands how to diag. a car with a CAN. Actually take that back. The dealership you go to probably cant diag. a car with points, distributor, and a carb!

 

I am 100% trouble free at 12,000 miles and I do track my car!!!! no worries

 

I've had tons of problems. But every one of them was fixed fast and right the first time.

 

well this makes day 28 tomarrow will be 29 and friday makes 30. Ive already called gm and they are ready to cut me a check. Iam on standby for a X-Runner. TRD here i come.
