2 carbon fiber hood questions.

1. im getting the rk sport carbon fiber hood from the group buy here from cobalt addiction and on rk sports website they say it weighs 45 pounds. How much does the stock hood weight im comparison to that? Just wondering how much weight savings are in on it.

2. My installer is saying i should put hood pins in it and i really dont want to and none of the pictures of it show it with hood pins. does anyone on here with a carbon hood have problems not running hood pins?

also a 3rd question i forgot.

With the hood scoop am i gonna have any problems with water getting into my engine?

heres a link

you dont need hood pins as i think almost every one here who has CF hoods with out them. its prob recommended so if you slam the hood the latch dosent go through the hood.

just a note the rksport one that i've seen is fiberglass, not carbon fiber - big difference... cf hoods weigh 6-7lbs...

you'll want the pins when you top 100 at the strip and notice that light CF hood "floating"....

yeah i was worried about the hood scoop directing air right to my short ram filter since there is an air tunnel that i was worried about the water traveling thru, so you say thats not an issue then?

i was worried about the air tunnel taking water straight to my short ram intake, and also do you use hood pins on yours in fiberglass?

Fiberglass is white, Carbon fiber is black. If the hood is black (unpainted) then it's Carbon fiber.

Hood pins are always a great Idea with CF. At high speeds you run more of a risk of it ripping off the car. That would be a bad thing.

I wouldent worry about the water. Our engins are sealed up pretty good.

I have the same hood just in fiberglass and have no water issues with it. Maybe a few drop when opening the hood at the location of the latch, but other than that, no problems.
